Hey everyone ?? In new here. I bought a mh last year and about to embark on a 2 month solo trip through Europe in May. I’m totally useless at all things mechanical/ electronic and DIY and wondered if anyone thinks this is a decent solar panel to get?
I have a 4 berth eldiss suntor 140 2007, rarely use the hot water, don’t have a TV and will just be using the plug for charging my phone and laptop, flush and lights for 2 hours (max) in the evenings.
Any help much appreciated.

Welcome and.......its ok. You will get what you pay for remember. It will do for a start. It caters for all things but obviously there is a reason a controller is £100 plus and then there are solar panels and ...solar panels!
Realistically...You get what you can afford at the time. You then learn from it. Dont be put off by the response please...Just think of it as a learning curve. We all have done it and seen our own mistakes later .
It is what it is...a kit for little money. It will do!

Look at it that way. There will be others who do know and will guide you too.

Have a think about how often you will be moving on.
If say every 2 or 3 days you will probably be OK on solar energy, because the hab battery will recharge when you are driving (assuming your system does this)

If not I would suggest , if you can afford it and your MH can accomodate it, buying a larger panel than 80w.
Although your link states that you will see 57 Ah per day, this will be the absolute maximum. I know tyou will travel in May when the daylight hours are long but if there is a lot of cloud or if you travel in the winter etc. you may find that 80w is not enough if you are staying put for longer periods than 2 or 3 days.

Hello and welcome........:welcome4:
I’m useless too,in fact I’m worse than useless, but we seem to manage!

Hi and welcome to the madhouse? Kev has some sound advice there, there will be those who know what they’re doing (I’m not one) and those who don’t (me) and those that spend thousands doing an expert job, probably way more than needed but each to their own.

Electrikery is the devils work???

Oh I forgot, invest £15 and subscribe on here, it will be the best £15 you have ever spent??

for the diffence in the cost of panels fit the biggest you have roof space for

I suspect the seller is being a tad overoptimistic about the performance of the panel. An 80w panel will produce around 5A only with the sun directly overhead in Spain, and you won't get it for 11 hours a day as they are suggesting. Possibly for your use it may be enough in the summer anyway, though if you were operating a compressor fridge, no chance.
I would go for a bigger panel, perhaps 150w if you've got room and a better MPPT controller will give you more in the winter months.

Thank you all so much! I feel really welcomed :)

would you advise this is a decent one instead?

I’m in west London at the moment moving on in May :)

Yes, that would be more suitable.
This might also suit, at a lower price.

<Broken link removed>

I would reccommend using Sikaflex 252i to fix the support brackets to the roof. It's a very strong structural adhesive.
The way this is done , is that you secure all of the brackets to the panel, then apply adhesive and take a deep breath and stick it on. Having tried it all dry of course and marked it all out.

The cable gland is also usually stuck directly to the roof (no screw holes to leak).
The cable , with an MC4 connector on it probably will go down from outside to inside and connect to the matching MC4's on the panel.

Then make connections to the regulator etc.
