Hi all, I had the fan blower resistor replaced last October on my Ducato (only worked on no. 4) and on Friday it stopped working again, only working on no. 4 again. It was repaired under warranty in October so why has it stopped working again after 8 months, was it a cheap replacement do you think and any recommendations for replacement part I would be very thankful for.
Thank you
Anthony

It's often the connector that the resistor pack attaches to that goes. Look for crispy pins. And it's in a pretty vulnerable position if your passenger has restless feet, they can kick the connector and short it.

As guigsy says , very common problem on loads of cars/vans , I have changed numerous units & wiring connectors over the years
Picture below is only an example of what you can buy

The common failure on blower resistor packs is the thermal fuse at the top going open circuit. This thermal fuse protects the resistor pack from overheating.

Repeated failures can mean your blower motor has excessive load due to failing bearings or other motor faults. On most vehicles the pack is mounted in the air duct and cooled by the air flowing in the duct to the blower. Check there are no restrictions when you change it.

When I replaced the resistor on mine, I also had to replace the connector as it has clearly overheated and was charred.

Is it definitely the resistor, I saw on YouTube somebody had trouble with the blower and that turned out to be the rotary switch on the dash.

Hi, yes thanks for replying. I'm just a bit wary as it was replaced 8 months ago under warranty and I wanted to know if it was replaced with a so called cheaper quality as prices range from £6 to £20.
Thanks
Anthony

Yes I had this problem, tried an EBay aftermarket which lasted for about 4 weeks, fitted genuine from Fiat , no problems.
