carado v132
So, we are awaiting delivery of a Carado V132 it’s got a few extras fitted already(radio, reversing camera, solar panel and external gas point)) and just deciding what if anything to get the dealer to add pre delivery. I know the dealer needs to make a bit of money on some of these things and I’d be happy to cough a 15% or so mark up but much more than that and I’d look at alternatives. So, in no particular order.

An S5 tracker. Dealer £600 ish, tracker firm £400 ish
Maybe an alarm. ?
Spare wheel carrier, without wheel. Dealer £600 ish fitted, Amazon £170 fit myself.
Locking Wheel bolts Dealer £110 Amazon £40

So has anyone got recommendations for a tracker and or alarm fitting near Northampton.

How easy is it to fit a spare wheel carrier, are holes and nuts etc pre drilled?

What size wheel bolts does the V132 with alloy wheels take, both M14 and M16 are listed in different places and what length.

Anything else you think we need but have yet to think off. All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.!

Oh, sorry one more thing. It’s a Fiat chassis and Fiat are currently offering a 555 extended warranty and servicing deal on new vehicles. Has anyone managed to get it on a camper and is it worth it?

I think the 555 is a new warranty extension for commercial vans. Fiat have a different extended warranty for camper vans which includes their Camper Assist service. Talk to Adams Morey at Portsmouth about extending your Fiat warranty, it can be arranged on the phone you don’t have to go to Portsmouth.

023 9269 1122 or you can email jo.collinson@adamsmorey.com

Motorhome owners travel from all over the country to get their servicing and work done by Adams Morey.

Refillable gas system like gaslow? Much better than shifting bottles. Internet like a MiFi system. We got both these fitted by dealer, but some people do them themselves.
We also got a lithium battery installed, but a year or so after purchase, but from a specialist fitter: oak tree motorhomes in Nottingham.

Definitely go for the warranty, if your dealer arranges it then great. Breakdown cover included as well?

The reason some get the warranty via Adams Morey is that, apparently, many dealers can't or won't arrange it, and don't tell their customers about it.

You have (I think) 14 days from registration to get it, it can't be purchased afterwards.

Your dealer can only arrange the warranty if they are also a Fiat Professional garage, not many are. Do not let a non Fiat Professional fob you off with another warranty, they are not as good, they are just hunting the commission for an insurance based product. You do need to get the warranty sorted out quickly. I arranged mine weeks before the handover and it kicked in with the registration date.

I know its a fair drive for you but I would go to Vanbitz for the alarm. Don't spend 10s of thousands on the van and mess about with alarms, get a good one.
I expect they still do free overnight on their campsite so make a little trip of it.

Fiat Ducatos have predrilled and threaded holes to fit the underslung sparewheel carrier.

Ive fitted two and its a doddle, may need a few bolts and some loctite to secure them.

I wouldn't bother with a spare wheel carrier better to keep the spare wheel out of the weather.
5 year Fiat extended warranty is £952 it includes Fiat Camper breakdown cover. As said best to deal with Adams Morey.

Do all the shorter vans have room for a spare? I believe some converters use the space for other kit such as tanks.

Another vote for vanbitz alarm etc, not cheap but very good reputation and in my opinion well worth it. I sleep soundly when in and when out of the motorhome!!

This is exactly what I did, straight from the dealers forecourt.

We had VanBitz fit:
Alarm
tracker
immobiliser
gaslow
solar panel

It was all done in one day.
A lot better job than the Dealer could have done, and a lot cheaper
And of course the alarm system is better than any off the shelf car alarm the dealer would have fitted.

The one thing I would get the dealer to fit is the wind out awning.

Thanks everyone, keep it coming! It already has a wind out awning so that’s sorted. Anyone know the wheel bolt size?

Refillable gas system, easier and cheaper than buying a Calor bottle every time!
If you got abroad you don’t have to worry about different gas bottles/fittings!

Unless you want an exterior gas filler point mounted on the exterior bodywork that is an easy self fit. Just get a SafeFill or similar bottle(s), fill it/them and install when the van arrives just as you would if picking up a fresh Calor gas bottle to use.

More relevantly how about twin regulators and a switch or auto-switch mechanism?

P.S. To the OP - The above assumes that your reference to an "external gas point" is a reference to a barbecue gas tap!
