For some reason best known to itself, the display panel has decided it,s minus 40 outside.
Any ideas please?

On my 2006 B525 the external temperature sensor is below the boiler behind the offside rear wheel so near the frost protection valve. Mine works so I've never worried about it beyond applying an ice cube to it to check it was what I thought it was. I'm afraid I have no idea how easy it is to replace. I suspect Lenny HB might know?

I take it you mean the Hymer one that shows temperature on the panel.

Its only a thermistor so you could just cut it off and join a new one to the wires.
If you can find spec on it you should be able to replace it cheaply.

Correct. It shows both int and ext temp. Int is fine, ext is wrong. You say cut the thermistor off? Where might I find it?
Ta 👍

How did you find it? What should I look for cos there's nowt in the extensive Hymer manual. Ta 👍

Here's a view of it. It's behind the aluminium skirt below where the boiler is just in front of the garage. The pipe next to it is the one that comes from the boiler, I think it's called a safety non return valve?. I haven't traced it back but from what Lenny says I suspect it goes back to the control panel ( which is some way away above to habitation door).

Thanks mate. Time to get on my back and have a dig around🥴

Update.
Had a dig around (much to her disgust......" You're supposed to be on holiday blah blah blah" 🤣 ) and I've found it where Paddymcc said it would be 👍Great. As the wires disappear up through the floor, I'm guessing it will be easiest to snip the end off and graft on a new one
Anyone know what /where I can get one please?

probably R.S components, they have a store just up from the blackwall tunnel just off the A102

The inside and outside sensors will probably be the same type, so to check the sensor is faulty swap them over where they go into the panel and see if the inside temperature reads -40c.

Next step (if the sensor is faulty) is to find out what type of sensor they are.. Measure the resistance of the working sensor in a temperature of 25°c. This will give you it's rated resistance, ie if your multimeter says it's 10k ohms at 25c the sensor is known as a 10k sensor.

Then find out whether it's an NTC or PTC by cooling off the sensor while still measuring the resistance, if the resistance falls it's a PTC type, if it goes up it's an NTC.

You can buy all the different thermistor types on ebay very cheaply 👌
