External access to under-bed (German bed layout) storage wardrobes (1 Viewer)

Saw this modification on a FB group. Basically it‘s to allow access to those awkward storage wardrobes that are at the ends of each bed in a German bed layout (there‘s typical one either side of the steps). Here‘s the pics from their mod:

Newly installed door to allow access from the outside

This now allows much easier access and also the potential to use it for outside items rather than dragging them through the van

Thought it was a neat installation and could be useful for some.

There were a couple of threads last year from people who were looking for options to add additional external hatches and doors.

Nice job done with the door but I don't see the point on the inside you have a door & you can lift the top. They are meant as wardrobes so you should only have clothes in there.

Corrrr ... sod the external door, just imagine the size of the laundry hatch I could put in the lift-up lid!

I never heard the expression 'German bed layout' before. 'French bed' I have heard.

Our German N&B Arto has a transverse fixed double over the garage, but apparently not a 'German bed'
