Having searched the forum and read posts about doing the exterior joints sealing, I see lots of mention of the various Sikaflex products being good for the job. If a Sika product is used for the joints, what is is like to remove when it needs doing again given it’s infamous bonding propertie?

I need to do around the skirts and the join of the cab to hab area just behind the cab doors as the existing sealant, (looks like a standard exterior sealant) has shrunk and has a gap of a couple of mm. similar with the overcab joint.

I know it will be a lot of work stripping out the old sealant and getting it prepped but I think I would rather do the job myself and at least I know it’s not just been overfilled as I suspect it would be if I take it to a workshop to be done. Not even figured out yet how to reach the overcab (low profile MH) yet!

Finally, any areas of the roof that I should be looking at and is sealant or tape better for the roof joints?

Vehicle is a Boxer based 2016 Majestic 125 And it looks like whoever did it last didn’t do a great job or use the right product.

Soudal RV 61
Its a non setting flexible adhesive for pricisly your application. Other products may not have the flexibility for large gaps and extreame adhesion, ie difficult to remove.
Soudaseal RV61 is a high quality single component joint sealant with high adhesive strength. It is based on MS-Polymer, chemically neutral and fully elastic.

RV61 is used for structural bonding applications in the caravan and motorhome, car/coach building, marine, train and aerospace industries where structural elastic bonding between metal surfaces, coated surfaces and many plastics is required. ie moulding to cab.
Used by caravan manufacturers to fit and adhere corner moulds, windows, lateral roof moulds, and other exterior leisure vehicle fittings.
Ultra-violet, rain and temperature resistant with a powerful fungicide to limit the growth of damp and mould.

Flexible and chemically netural, it can be painted over if required.
I used some last year and joints still fine. The only problem id had was a rapid grey discolouration. Some areas i did not replace are now showing cracks/gaps one winter on.

Thanks for the details the1andonly much appreciated. I will take a look at it and probably do mine progressively over any warm periods we get over the summer. I need to find a safe way of getting to the over cab centre part so it maybe trestles and a scaffold board I think.

If you do show us how. So far i have only done the lower vertical bits on a low profile. I may redo the discoloured (dust when settling?) bit this year if i have to do the top half of verticals.
Any assistance with photo ideas on how to get up there greatfuly received.

No problem the1andonly, I will post as much as I can when I’m done and I’ll see how I get on with accessing the high level bits safely and I’ll try to show that too. Not really looking forward to doing it, mainly the stripping out of the old stuff and prep, it but I don’t really trust a garage to do it properly. I’m sure once I get started it’ll be ok.
