has anyone tried to extend their home insurance to cover a trip of up to 90 days? Just wondering what it might cost and whether it is cheaper to switch to LV (who allow 60 days) and ask them if they will extend to 90 days. Thanks

When we were with LV a while back (2016) we wanted to extend to 90 days and they said it wasn't possible 60 days was the maximum. Don't know if things have changed but haven't tried again.

Last year we had an LV /Highway house insurance (via CAMC) that covered up to 120 days. This year I couldn’t find anyone to cover more than 90 days - only Ageas (via CAMC). Every other quote was limited to 60 days 😖😖😖

Just switching after 20 years with LV home insurance, premiums rose from £27pcm 2023 to £47pcm 2024, same cover unlimited buildings, 75K contents, accidental damage on both, plus legal cover. No Claims made ever.
Now its 60 days max unoccupied, do you own a pet, do you smoke, do you have an alarm, are you in a neighbourhood watch area, are you having any building, or home improvement work carried out at the moment or in the near future.
A few years back they were happy if you went away, having turned off all utilities, maybe drained down water & heating systems, and had a "Responsible Adult" family member, neighbour or friend check the property on a regular basis.
