Hi All, I am looking to replace my 2 numax lead acid batteries with 2 Exide gel batteries and have seen these ES1300 for sale my question is would my cbe 16 amp charger be big enough or should I consider going for 2 ES 900,s I also have 150w solar with Victron mppt controller .
Regards
Colin

Have you looked at putting 1 LiFePo battery of say 280ah in their place? Lighter far more usable power (obviously may need a little alteration to the set up but 1 c 280ah wont be too much more than 2 of those exides...)

Two of those gives you 240 amp hours of which fifty percent is useable.

A 120 and hour lithium won’t cost you any more, is much lighter than one gel battery and gets you on the road to a more modern set up.

Your mppt probably has a lithium setting.
Only need a mains charger and off you go.

Loads more available payload.

Any chance of answering the OP's question rather than offering an alternative.

I replaced my two LA batteries with 2 Gels because it suited my use profile and it was 70% cheaper option

fifty percent is useable.
My understanding is that Gels can be taken to 80%

I have just put in the very same battery. Seems fine but weighs a ton so a bit of a struggle to get it in, I had to get the aid of my no1 son who specialises in brute force and ignorance.
Lithium would be fine but a b2b would be needed which is quite expensive.
