I have asked this question on another gas thread but got no reply, which was odd considering many people talk about getting exchange cylinders in France/Spain etc.

The question is are all exchange cylinder connections 21.8 LH threads? Or do they need adaptors.

Spain is 35mm jumbo clip on adapter but normally you ca use a 21.8 pigtail onto the adapter.
There are quite a few different sizes across Europe.
The one that catches most out is the German KLF as it’s also 21.8 lh but will leak 😮

Thanks.

I only want an exchange cylinder as a back-up for my Gaslow, which has the old 37Mb propane regulator screwed directly onto the cylinder, so I just want, if necessary, to be able to change it directly to another cylinder, without faff.

We can get to France with no trouble. What exchange cylinder connection do they have there?

[Countries having different systems are very frustrating. How did the haulage industry manage to get communality for tractor units and trailers? At least phone chargers are going to be inter-changeable soon]
