Fiat achieved the Euro 6 standard by using other methods (EGR) and using loop holes in the testing rules. When more meaningful testing was introduced in 2019 they had to use AdBlue and stop start to get to Euro 6. The Euro 6 standard didn’t change but the tests manufacturers had to comply with made them do the job properly. Our Hymer is euro 6, it has no stop/start and no Adblue. But our VW Caddy has both.
Why the difference?
We have stop start on our Audi which I would have thought was the same as on the VW. After nearly 10 years we are still on the original battery and have had no problems whatsoever.I know the stop start the VW causes problems.
