Hi. I'm about to leave on a France/Netherlands trip with my dog. He had a UK Pet Passport but I let it lapse not thinking I'd do another foreign trip. He had his 3 year rabies jab a month ago and I have just got his Animal Health Certificate from my local vet so we are good to go next week. I understand that I could try to get an EU passport for future trips and have seen the various forum threads on this but I was wondering if, while visiting a vet for return tape worm treatment, I could at the same time get an EU passport on the strength of my current, valid AHC but without being able to provide a permanent EU address - only an address of where I have been staying. I realise that I will need my AHC to return to the UK. So my question is has anybody done this under these circumstances and if so can they give me a contact name or address for a suitable vet in the Northern France or Benelux area (returning via Eurotunnel). I understand there may be info on Facebook, but I'm not a user.
Thanks.

maz is the go to expert on this forum on all matters pertaining dog travel. I’m sure she’ll be along with help.
There are many others on here who have used vets in Belgium and France to obtain the EU pet Passport with success.

Getting an EU passport in France is virtually impossible now so I wouldn't even bother trying,
much better in Belgium, for peace of mind I would do it as soon as possible after you arrive.
Some vets will transfer the rabies vaccinations details, some may need your dog to have another one, address of a friend will do👍

If you particularly want to obtain an EU Pet Passport at the same time as the return worming treatment, then I would recommend only using a vet that is known to have issued Pet Passports to Brits very recently. Otherwise you may end up failing at the eleventh hour. There are 2 vets in Belgium that come to mind - one in Bruges and one in Mons - their details are in a number of threads on here. France will be much more difficult.

We used Dr Jaucot in Mons for our two passports. She was happy to copy over their Rabies info from AHC to new passports. Do what maz suggests and get it soon after you start in case something goes wrong. Initially; although we had booked a day and time for issue, she had run out of them so issued us a new one and one that had been put aside for someone else. Then on return to the UK for worming we used her again, but it was noticed that the vaccinations had been filled out for this previous dog. This could have caused snags if we had got them then rocked up at the tunnel.
No need for an EU address as she asks you to fill out your UK address on issue.

I used Dr Jacout too for return worming treatment and 3 year rabies jab.
Very friendly and professional, but she likes the folding stuff for payment ;)

We went to Dr Jaucot and she absolutely refused to copy over the rabies information so we paid for another jab. Prices and attitude seem to vary but EU PP is issued.
Should the vet you use say the same, there is no harm for your dog in having a further rabies jab so soon - I checked with my vet daughter
