We have an EU pet passport issued in NI, we have a NI address
Is it OK to use for european travel as one forum "Pet Travel" says no
The rabies vaccine is recorded and is in date so all we should need is a tapeworm treatment by a vet before return

I don't see how a NI pet passport is any different to an old mainland UK one. No longer valid in the EU as NI is not in the EU. Southern Ireland one is definitely valid

The NI protocol following Brexit leaves NI as part of the EU travel area so the passport is OK for travel to and from EU.

As Nigel P says, an NI-issued pet passport is fine. However, if it is an older one it needs 'updating' to conform with requirements. I believe this consists of a sticker on the front cover and a written note inside.

Please can you provide a link to this 'Pet Travel' forum, as there is still a lot of nonsense being written on the web about EU pet passports.

Is it possible for a non resident to get a NI pet passport? I assume we can travel to NI without the need for a pet passport

Correct. We have the older "updated" version and have used it with no problems whatsoever.
The young lady in Folkstone did take a very good look at it and appeared to check something on her computer, but very quickly handed it back and wished us a good trip.

Not an answer to your question, but I know you can definitely travel to NI from GB without any documents, and you can also cross the NI/ROI border without any documents. You can then get an EU Pet Passport from any vet in ROI. No need to be resident in NI or ROI.

They really know how to make a shambles of it all don't they? Talk about making stuff complicated.
