Essen & cologne - parking outside the UMWELTZONE‘s

Heading off to spend a week at Xmas markets but can’t find a site that isn’t busy, so looking for recommendations, quite spots that you’ve found, I’ve checked park4 .., Campercontact, search4 ….. & found a couple of out of way spots but if you’ve got a nice spot & don’t mind sharing ……..
Intention is to bike (elec) into the respective towns so preferably not a zillion miles outside the Umwelt.
Grateful for suggestions, heading out on Tuesday next

Don't go to the big cities. All the markets there are corporate affairs, all run by the same companies. Aachen being typical. We'll be at one next weekend that has just 18 huts, but is the best I've ever been to. Soest is bigger but is also very good and has a stellplatz

There is a Stellplatze in Cologne by the Zoo which is about 15 minutes by bike into the centre along the river and they have a number of different themed markets dotted around Cologne.

The Stellplatze has a fixed route to it that misses the Umwelt Zone and the details are on the website.
