Hymer
Hi everyone.
Has anyone undergone the the appalling Erwin Hymer Travelworld Customer service experience?

Collected our brand new Masterline BML I 790 in June, haven’t had a week yet without habitation system freezing, shutting down or something happening that shouldn’t.
This is our first Motor Home and whilst we’ve enjoyed the small amount of time we’ve had trying get used to it, EHTW are leaving a very bitter taste!

Almost four months later…
They… that is Erwin Hymer Travelworld tell me there doing everything that they possibly can to rectify the faults. That apparently involves the customer service manager sending one email a week! to Hymer in Germany!!!Oh Please!

A few other examples:
Four months to replace a warped floor panel, still no sign of that landing.
Brand New vehicle delivered with old windscreen wipers…still waiting.
Requested a quote to supply and fit the tracker system they recommend, went up to view the vehicle…they’d gone ahead and fitted said tracker with no authorisation.

Whilst they would think this unfair, they haven’t spent a huge amount of money and had to deal with there customer service manager.

I’ll tell you about the Mercedes’ key fob and diesel debacle another time.

Cheer’s Andy

Commiserations.

The sales was excellent, after that it goes very downhill.

All I wanted was a fridge that worked on gas. Made the trip back there 5 or 6 times. They told me the fridge wasn’t meant to get that cold. It wouldn’t get below 7 degrees when empty in winter…… Surprise surprise, the wrong burner was fitted for some reason and it suddenly went cold when fixed.

Then there was the wing mirrors, they weren’t switching on when the heated button was pressed. I couldn’t find a fuse. After a 2 hour round trip there and back they told me they had fixed it, except they only changed the fuse and didn’t bother to check both mirrors were actually heating up. Another wasted day and 2 hours for them to sort that….

A friend had the same experience after buying 2 vans from them.

Not a place I would ever spend my cash again.

They seem to think it’s perfectly fine you have wasted your time and diesel to compensate for their sloppy workshop.

Sorry to learn of your troubles.

Utter disgrace

Can you reject it ?
Rejecting it has crossed my mind on more than one occasion, trouble is they’ve got nothing new on there for court and ours was over six months late coming out of Germany the first time, so at the moment I’m a little stuck. Fingers crossed.

I hate the place, I wouldn’t send anyone there several bad experiences there, but as the only UK importers of our brand we had no choice.
Good luck I hope you get it sorted.

Bought a new N&B Flair back in 2015 and the service from Travelworld as they were called then was shocking. On day 3 of ownership I tested the towbar to find the electrics' were not working. A call to the workshop manager informed me that the system was plug and play, so must be working. On return to Travelworld that day I was shown what "MY" problem was, the connection between the towbar electrics and the Iveco connection was badly oxidised. I asked if when they fitted the plug and play did they actually play as the level of oxidisation on the connections was not over a short period, as in days. I was told that due to the oxidisation being on the Iveco side it was not their problem and I should take it up with Iveco. Having a mother who is a QC (or KC now) has it's advantages. A quick call to her and a chat with the owner, who was not very customer orientated and certainly not the most friendly (may be due to the chat with Mum who is a fairly straight talker), the motorhome was taken to Iveco for repairs.
When the habitation electric closing system failed to operate the motorhome was again returned to them. After a day in the workshop, the workshop manager proudly showed me it had been fixed, we were not slamming it hard enough. I explained it was self closing hence the motors to pull the door in. He laughed and told me I did not understand motorhomes. Okay, come with me and lets see how the doors in the new vans in the showroom work. I ventured back to Polch (N&B Factory) and they were shocked at the damage which had been done to the door. The complete door had to be changed out due to the tension they placed on the motors.
My Thetford oven never worked in the 2.5 years I owned it. Thetford offered no support and Travelworld were not interested. I think we spend around 8 visits trying to get the issue resolved. In one attempt they claimed they would need the van for a week which I refused.
Needless to say I have not stepped foot in the new Hymerworld Showroom and never shall.

You guys should have taken your vans to Reliance near Chichester, West Sussex. They are authorised for N&B warranty work, nice bunch of guys they only do service work.

I just cant understand how The Premium Manufactures selling MH in many cases of over 200K plus, use TW as their only retail outlet, they must know of the appalling after sales provided to UK customers.
Since joining MH Fun over 5+ years ago, the continuing nightmare stories of bad aftersales from TW never ceases to amaze me, across all brands they offer.
Many Premium Brand owners that I know have bought directly from the factory, they get any problems sorted at the factory in Germany, its obvious why now.
The time and expense of going back to the factory shouldn't be necessary at this or any price line.
It would seem TW are all too ready to take your money, but not interested in keeping your custom in the future.
If ever I get to the position of ordering any new MH, no way would they get my order at any price.

They did me a real big favour ..
Was going to buy a new van at £79k and to seal the deal I wanted a solar panel fitted. They refused to budge so I bought my current van elsewhere 👍 think I was real lucky there. Don't hear many good things on the service side.

I have not read the whole thread just scanned but I agree with Les why are manufactures using such poor-quality dealers but why do people use them? there are a number of comments where people have bought more than one van from them after the poor experience the first time if I was spending that kind of money, I certainly would not be a returning customer. I dont go back to a restaurant if the food is poor the first time.

They get used by many who get drawn into the Motorhome lifestyle after a tv programme/attending a show etc, then look online and TW come up with a good selection of motorhomes.
Most of them will have had no experience of motorhomes or dealers and don’t know what they are letting themselves in for.

Or if you want a Niesmann+Bischoff they are the only dealer.

If you have a bad experience with a dealer, then it should placed in the review section and discussed there, Not in open threads as they tend to attract drive by assasinations. Yeah I've heard they are crap. I had terrible service from them in 1989, My best mates, mother in law's, sons cousin bought a van from them it was rubbish, and so on. Thanks - https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/reviews/erwin-hymer-group-travelworld.28/
