Hi
Does anyone know if a different engine can be fitted to a 1999 Peugeot Boxer currently with a 2.5 TD. Parts are difficult to source for the 2.5. I was wondering if a 1.9 D or 2.8 d would be a straight swop.

I would presume parts are getting hard to come by for the 1.9 and 2.8 engine too. Also the 1.9 is underpowered. What is the problem with your engine?

Thanks for the reply, Timing belt kit especially the tensioner is almost impossible to source, I did get a new belt fitted but had to reuse the pulleys and tensioners. These parts seem to be readily available for the 1.9 and 2.8 engines.

Have you tried places like eurocarparts?

Also try Autodoc. I had a mark one 1900diesel 1989 & autodoc have everything available .
Wildbill fitted a 2,8 engine & gearbox complete in to his Ducato mark one & changed to cable gear shift.I think it fitted ok apart from the half shafts, which had to be shortened .

I have a 1999 2.5td, engine has about 90,000 miles, serviced every year and runs well. Body knackered and would need a lot of work. I'm thinking of selling it for spares, has MOT till November 2024.
