If any one is thinking of going to the elephant Aire in Spain this weekend ,don’t 😂, I have been coming here for a good few years now and have never seen it as packed you can’t move only by the grace of god did we get off this morning for the ferry. I think is a national holiday in Spain this weekend . There must be at least a hundred vans 😳

Elephant Aire, any more details as to where and why it's so popular please? SWMS is an avid fan of elephants ..

edit, bugger, slow typer :giggle:

Coordinate n43.358144 w003.81909 it’s Aire next to a zoo where the elephants come right up to the fence . It’s about 20 mins from the port .

Big weekend as it's the "day of the dead"..

We encountered it once as we travelled down to Benidorm using the main roads, every town was rammed and huge tailback caused by people visiting the cemeteries etc... Soon be over..

Watch "Coco" the kids movie. (y)

We went into the zoo with the Motorhome last year and highly recommend the place, the animals have a massive amount of space to roam, and the two aerial cable cars take you right over the tops of most of the enclosures,
Also if you are an OAP you get a discount, produce your passport at gate, some of the roads inside are narrow so we used the scooter for some of it,

We are parked up at the aire in Zaragoza close to the tram station and that is exactly the same. It is rammed. I think the same that there must be close on a hundred vans here spilling over onto the overflow part and all around the stadium.

This was a couple of years ago. They have built a secondary fence now though so the elephants can no longer stick their trunks through.

When we were there in March this year the water and waste were closed off, have they been opened up again ?

Yes a well chosen location and weekend... yesterday was All Saints day, therefore a long weekend is in prospect....Say hello to Dumbo and Nelly...🤭

And you can take your dog in your motorhome

Those haven’t been available for a number of years so I wouldn’t expect that situation to change anytime soon.

Was there last Sunday..about 6 vans.
BUSBY..

We use this Repsol garage which has full service facilities on the way to the ferry from the Elephant park. We fill up with diesel, exchange any empty Repsol gas cylinders, dump the grey and cassette. Last time we were there they gave us a free baguette.

It’s best to be aware of European public holidays to prepare for the situations that can arise. 1st November was All Saints Day but I’m sure these national holidays can be found somewhere on the internet.

The good news, you tell someone about a good site, the bad news they tell someone else, etc etc. ;-)

Last year we made the mistake of travelling back on 1st November :whatthe:
SWMBO fancied some nice French pastries, so we diverted through a number of villages in search of a patisserie :wondering:
Despite Google stating that they were open, they most definitely were NOT:rollingeyes:

We always check for Spanish Red Days but didn't think to check the French ones.
Lesson learned, we won't do that again :oops2:
