Hi All
I am looking for somewhere that sells the german made elefant door security device (as per the link below), or an equivalent for Hymer doors.

Does anyone know where I can get them from? Most of the German sites I have found are un willing to send them to the UK.

I have looked at ATE and they don't do the right version just one for most UK vans.
What I am looking for is this shape.

Might be worth searching on Brunner door security too as a couple of Amazon listings albeit not the type above - can't put direct links as they don't work here.

This Grizzly version was suggested previously too https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/grizzly-hab-door-lock.280116/#post-5521421 which may help others looking for this type of lock.

Maybe worth contacting ATE to see if they can manufacture the one you need as then with your help they would have the template to sell more.

I will email both Grizzly and ATE to see if they are interested as there must be a big untapped UK market. I'll let you know what transpires.

As far as I can see, these plates just hold apart the pins in the door latch. I think it prevents it from being opened even if the lock barrel is forced? The gap is reasonably big, so a 3d printed plate would probably be stiff enough to do the same job.

Found this one Broken Link Removed & did a partial dummy order which does show shipping to UK as option 🤞

Similar but Hymer (and others) have a bar and clasp system like this

In case you haven't spotted it - maybe check out Intercaravaning link on post #9 to see if that works? It looks promising...

There's a very simple and cheap alternative, a simple hockey stick shaped piece of 3/4mm rod dropped in the hole in the plate will do the same job, [ or any shape you care to make it]. I hang mine next to the door ready for speedy deployment.

Hi Mike
Can you share a picture of this design and it in use please?

Here you go, very functional. Pic. 1 door lock has been opened from outside, but the pin prevents any further travel to allow the door to fully open.
Pic.2 A handy hanging spot on the Milenco's thumb turn inside the van.
I had another photo showing the pin located in the door in it's ready for use state, before being put into action, but the photo won't load, but you should get the idea from the two photos.

Thanks Mike . A simple idea that works. I will give it a try , but I will still pursue the plate version as well as togeather it should be impossible to open the door.

Pete Liz, any welding fabricator places near you should be able to make that.
Basic plate will take 30 mins todo, Iwould get an extra arm with a drop bolt in to the hole in the lock clasp as those elephant ones look like they could work free if tried while you are away from van.

The plate version looks like it would activate earlier if the door was picked from the outside, thus superseding the drop in pin, but to be honest, in the short term if you're in a troubling area even a nail with a bend in the top would do the same job, or a cross head screwdriver.
