Hi all,

Just pulled up on site and gone to put the fridge on. The orange igniter switch will not illuminate and fridge will not ignite. We're here for 3 days and it's warm!
I've swapped the fuse on the "distribution board" with the one from the water pump and pump still works. I've stupidly not brought my multimeter as needed it for an inside job.
Anyone know where next from the fuse I should check?

Borrowed a multimeter from next door. The switch has 12v between top and bottom poles, and 6v between bottom and middle poles which drops to 0v when the switch is turned on...

Back on dry land now.
Fridge is an Electrolux RM 4271. It stayed lit when I lit it manually. I'm not sure how the circuit is designed to work, the 12v goes from the switch to a blue box under a cover behind the switch, I assume this takes 12v and turns it into high voltage for the igniter? And this same unit sends 12v back on the middle pun to igniter switch to make it flash when it's activated?

Tested with a multimeter till im blue in the face, I've decided it's this but can't seem to find one, any ideas?

Thanks, and holy moo that's expensive!

Well, bought and fitted a new piezo and still no joy. RIP to £90. Looking like maybe time for a new fridge!

you may want to consider fitting a 12v compressor fridge..

no more lighting issues, they are very reliable, little or no maintenance, they do not need external vents , and if off grid, can easily run on solar power..
They have a proper freezer compartment that can freeze food, not just keep it frozen, same as a domestic fridge..
Unlike a 3 way, theywork in high ambient temperatures

I have one fitted in my van and would never go back to having an absorption type again

they are also cheaper.. and the internal size is bigger that the equivalent size 3 way fridge ..

Yes this would be the plan, we will have to limp through on EHU only until I can afford it as we would need solar, likely a 2nd battery as we only have lead acid and the fridge so we would be looking at £1000 I think.
On the flip side, it would mean us not bothering with LPG conversion which would save £4-600 ad the fridge takes most of our gas.

I have 2 x 100ah lead acid batteries, and around 150 watt solar.. which is more than adequate in summer.. but I guess in winter, if not driving every other day, may need EHU ..

bear in mind you don't need a 16A EHU , many sites and aires offer a 6A supply which is generally cheaper which I found more than adequate for the fridge, battery charging and a Truma water heater

Interesting to know, I was looking at this:

As it comes with a 100a battery, but also this:

And then just buy a battery as well... because more is better?!

As for the fridge, what size is yours? Our current is 72L with a 7L freezer.

more is better .. yes

my fridge is only 60lt.. but its more than big enough for us .. not sure of freezer, but it's full width and holds quite a lot ..

should add, we hardly use any gas , 3 way fridges use more gas than many realise.

My current one has a void behind it, probably another 200mm. But height I'm keen to not have a massive gap.
Alpicool R85?

Further update, re-committed this afternoon and the new piezo does work, I can hear it clicking and when I shorted the pins (not using switch) the fridge lit and remained lit itself. Connected old piezo to rule out me being a numpty and it being the switch and no clicking so one has taken out the other.
Now in the market for a new 12v switch with a light on it.
Started another thread regarding the fitment of the spark lead as this is now complete.
