New to motorhomes 2019
I recently had my electroblock EBL111 repaired with the normal fault of no 12v led.

On return I found that although the on off button and LED work the lights and sockets are no longer isolated.

Original repairer suggests it may be one of the 2 large internal relays.

I messaged Udo Lang at Schaudt to see if any spares were available and got the following reply that also suggests fitting an over voltage protector OVP 01. Anyone seen this before or fitted one?
His response is below:

Please send us your device for repair.

Right now we have a delay in our repair office of about 8 weeks.
Please plane the stay of your unit in Schaudt company well in advance!

Our address is:

Schaudt GmbH Elektrotechnik & Apparatebau
-Kundendienst-
Planckstr. 8

88677 Markdorf
Germany

The best is to add a small note to the parcel with your
return address and a description of the error.

Please give us your telephone number and your e-mail adress, if we need to contact you.

Please let us know to which date you need the unit at latest back!
We will do our best to stay in time with the repair.

If your unit is for example an EBL and it has a defect charging module which needs to be exchanged, the max. amount of costs can be about 130.- up to 180.- Euros net.
In case we can repair a partly damaged module, the costs will be lower.

To protect the new charging module in your EBL in the future, we like to recommend highly our overvoltage protector, the OVP 01.

When you like to order the OVP 01, please just google the unit, and you find several
partners or us they sell the overvoltage protector.

For all other units, the costs of the repair are depending on the faulty at your unit, but normally the costs are less than 80.- up to 120.- Euros net.
In special cases, we will give in advance an information via e-mail regarding to the costs of the repair.

The return of your repaired unit will be done via UPS. The best way to deliver is cash on delivery.
(Additional costs in Europe about 15.- Euros.)
That means, you can pay the repair costs directly to the parcel-service at your door in Sterling or Euros.

If you wish to pay via PayPal in advance, this is also possible, but needs to be noticed in your enclose letter.
We will send after the repair an invoice to you and an information of our paypal account.

Please note that all prices do not include shipping or VAT!!!

For urgent repairs we like to recommend cash on delivery!!

For an information because the costs of your parcel you like to send to us, the best is to contact the parcel-service at your end directly.
There might be some differences of the delivery time and the shipping costs between the parcel services, so better to check in advance.

After the Brexit, we will repair units from UK as well, but there can be a delay on the boarder. Sorry for that.
Please make sure to pay any extra boarder duties in advance to have a fast completion at the boarder.
We will not pick up the parcel at the boarder and will not pay any toll for the customer in advance!
As well it may be helpful to declare the unit you send to us as a used one with a value of under 100.- Euros worth.

It's a good idea to fit something that will protect against voltage surges and spikes, and there are various devices available to do this. The OVP1 is made for the EBL and I think it works fine. If you look at a map of lightning strikes of the last few years, you will see UK has quite a low incidence, so we don't tend to prioritise it. Where the EBLs are made is right in the middle of one of the worst hotspots, which are mainly round the Alps and other mountains. So I think that tends to concentrate their minds a bit.

Looking on line there are lots of over/under voltage protectors from as little as £20. Not as simple a plug and play like the OV01 @ £100 but still an easy install. Or am I missing something else?
