Electrical system tripped

Just had a strange situation about an hour ago. Was cooking dinner, when my system tripped. I exceeded the 3kw of the inverter with the electric hob on and microwave.

Everything went dark, I'm on a site but not plugged in, I've been on batteries this week. Long story short in the electric cupboard no fuses had blown, the main 400a fuse was fine, victron BMV display was blank. Victron app on phone showed nothing.

Batteries according to the BMS were 13.1. & 13.4v.

My first problem is the mcbs didn't trip on the consumer board connected to the inverter which are the circuits for said microwave and hob.

Secondly after scratching my head for sometime, I cheekily plugged in to the hook up point on my pitch which tripped the electrics back into life.

I unplugged from the hook up point and everything is fine again running off the batteries. My fear is that if it happens when I'm out in the bundu how would I get my electrics going?

When I've tripped the system on hook up everything momentarily goes off then comes back on again, on the batteries alone it stays off.

Bit of a head scratch, would anyone have ideas why this happened. Never had any problems before.

Specs

All victron: 3000w 12v inverter charger, 600w solar, 2 X 300ah lifepo4 batteries, 400a main fuse.

Did you try turning the inverter off and on again using the manual switch on the inverter?
 
My guess is the settings in the multiplus. Overload recovery to high or voltage recovery to high. Fine when you plug in.
Oh and your batteries should read same voltage being in parallel. Check batteries link.
Change mcb to a lower value to trip on overload.
The multi is 2400w not 3000, next time allow for that, many ppl gets tricked into it, without realising its apparent power, not active power.

Cheers Raul, thanks for the reply, I've just landed at my next site so will take a look at the battery wiring. Looking at the BMS software, one battery has 15 charge cycles and the other has 6 so there's something up somewhere.

Plus one battery has a voltage difference of 000.4v and the other is 0.127v.

Very possible, the battery with greater imbalance, triped out on low voltage cell, then let the other do the work. As it was large load, the voltage eventually got low enough on battery two, and bms or multiplus shut down. Usually low voltage recovery on bms it's pretty close to low voltage disconnect.

What are your charging settings? Maybe it needs longer time on low absorb to give it a chance to balance.
 
I'll dig the laptop out 2moro and plug into the inverter to get the charge settings, cheers for the reply. Internet's a bit patchy where I am.
 
Also, be aware the start up current for the microwave is much higher than the running current.
 
I tried uploading pictures but was very slow as i'm in rural Wales so instead the link below is an album of pictures containing screen shots of the inverter settings.

Hope some light can be shed on the problem.

Unfortunately I can’t read in any of the photos when I zoom in. What I can notice, the way the multiplus is fitted with heat generation chargers near by. That inverter will de rate its power as soon as the ambient in that enclosure hits 30C. Not very good , unless you have some high speed fans taking the air out, to maintain a 25C and lower. Unfortunately the way it is full power will be short time, until temperature rises, then the inverter start to de rate.
The batteries looks ok to me, I would test for heat under full load various connection points, eliminate any bad connection. In parallel they should be very close in voltage, within few millivolts.

Cheers Raul, there's 6 x 4" Pc fans running through the compartment the final two that exit the space are behind the solar controller and B2B module to dissipate the heat further.

I can see this ones, those settings are not good for lfp. Try find the lifepo4 preset in the settings.
