Hello all,
I have an issue which I've posted before. The issue is the control panel was saying the the vehicle battery has 4v poor. I know this wasn't the case as the vehicle battery is new. So I assumed that the EC200 was providing false readings and not sending power to the step or 2 spot lights which work from the vehicle battery, I guess this is so you still have some lighting should your leisure battery go flat. So I replaced the EC200 and the fault remained. I then removed the PSU2007 drilled out the rivets and took a look inside, no issues found. Reinstalled fault remained. I then disconnected the two spot lights and the fault cleared, the control panel went back to saying that the vehicle battery has 14v and the step worked (this is whilst on EHU) I expect it would work on vehicle battery but haven't tried yet, I left it out for ease of entry.
My question is why would there be a fault with the lights feed? surly if there was a short the fuse would blow, then I could find the bare wires / short and repair. This fault is baffling me, is it a ground / earth issue somewhere? relay not working? Any suggestions / pointers would be appreciated .

Can you test how much power the lights are consuming ?
Easily done if you have a clamp meter.
What type of lights are they? Do they have drivers?
Are you sure the wires only go to the two lights?

I removed both lights and replaced one with the original Factory fitted light, fault remained. So I’ve left both disconnected. Everything else works so assume wires only feed the lights.

Thanks Geoff, had PSU out yesterday and checked all the connections. It’s a blooming mystery.

Could there be any problem with the control panel data cable (being effected by another connection ?) If not Dave , it may be worth a call to Sargent who may have come across this before (01482 678981)

Thanks Geoff, I think I’ll do some more investigating when the weather gets better, it’s a bit wet and windy down here atm🤣. I was hoping someone on here may have had a similar problem.

I don’t have an issue leaving the spot lights out, we never turned them on anyway. I just want to know what the problem is.

Dave , if you do not have it already , there is a wiring diagram which may help , for your Motorhome , 2006 Swift Diagrams , on page 2 of Manuals for Motorhome stuff section of Resources (it does show a remote module as being fitted , as do earlier diagrams))

Are these the under locker reading spots or the halogens in the binnacle on the dome going up to the over cab. Our Bessacarr had those and they caused a number of problems until I found one of the twin wires was trapped by the metal spring plate that held the fittings in place. Sorted that out with some high temperature electrical tape. Our problem was the lights flickering.

Was gonna suggest to measure the voltage at the light fitting, with the light removed( no fault), and with the lights working( fault present). That should give an indication if anything is at miss on those circuits.

Under locker but no cables trapped ☹️

Dave Scadding , another thought ,is your system fitted with a remote control (for the control panel etc operation) and if so would this be worth a look at
Hi Geoff, I found this in the document bag that came with the van. Never used it and have no idea what it’s for, it’s been there for 5 years!!

Yeah, probably is although there isn’t a rear view monitor. Just been left in the document folder and forgotten about by previous owner and dealer.
