hi have just purchased a 1998 rollerteam and the electric step has stopped working the motor is working when power applied and there is power showing at the switch could there be a relay gone if so where do i find it help

If the motor is working any relays or fuses are OK. The most likely cause is either a stripped gearwheel or the mechanical link to the step has become detached.

the motor is working when power applied
Are you saying that you know the motor is working because to test it you applied power directly to the motor, so bypassing all the possible switches, relays and fuses?
there is power showing at the switch
Is power at the switch input and output, or just the input (ie, is the switch switching OK).

I'm not familiar with that brand of mh, but if yes to above, it sounds like a relay, or maybe there is a limit switch that switches off the motor, that might be stuck in the off state.

Most likely as said previously stripped gears they are not metal and the teeth break off leaving the motor to whirr and nothing happen.

Or, does the motor work when you press the button but it doesnt come in when you turn the engine on which is quite a common fault and that would be the relay which is hidden near to the button. chase the wires back, locate button (possibly in fridge vent) open and liberally use wd40, dry out, replace, see if it works. If it does, stop washing your van with a hose near the fridge events, if it doesnt likely to be new relay - shockingly could be a ton. Or abuse PHD electronic engineering students and pay them a bottle of wine. Worked for me !
