No help with your problem , but can I say you have done well in 6 yrs this being your first Post

When I’ve had problems with my electric steps (x2 vans) I’ve taken them off, dismantled them greased them up and put them back on
It’s usually a wiper motor that drives them depending how old it is

Dry Teflon type spray. Oil or grease makes the road crap stick.

Cannot beat any bit of lube lol.
Silicone spray etc, mind i have used some ceramic spray grease that when dry is not sticky like normal grease but it is slippy

Ours was a loose wire in the engine or somewhere - not the step it self. There is some sort of relay somewhere.
