Ive generally worked out the 12v system I want with a sterling B to B to charge the leisure battery through the alternator and a smart mains charger for when im on hook up. The question is should I fit a small 240 circuit for when im on hook up and I want to use an electric heater instead of the truma on gas or the kettle and microwave.

I don’t really do a lot of off grid camping maybe a day or 2 and days out. Longer hols will be on hook up.

Am I best getting an inverter instead of the 240 circuit.
thanks for help

For your usage, I'd think twice about fitting an inverter. You'd need a high power one, 1500W for example, and that requires serious wiring direct to the battery, and multiple batteries to supply its demands.

I'd go with the small 240V circuit idea, which should be fairly simple to do. You already have a hookup mains inlet and a small 'consumer unit', presumably with an RCD and MCB, so adding an extra circuit breaker and a bit more wiring to a socket or two won't be difficult.

Having said that, if you are short of 12V power for a 2-day jaunt, an extra battery would probably sort that out.

Is this for a self-build?

Might be worth a look in here:
