Hi guys lovely to join in the fun! We both feel we could experience a lot of motorhome wisdom here, so here goes . We have just bought a new Elldis autoquest cv 40 and everything seemed to do well till we came to use the water in the sink. In our last motorhome we just had to switch on the tap, the pump came on and water flowed. On our cv40 when we put the tap on we got nothing. Noticed a tap button on the control box with all the other buttons and pressed it and the pump came on and water slowly came out of the tap. But we also noticed water coming out underneath the van, through a hole in the tank.
Shut the tap of but the pump continued until we pressed the tap button again. Does anyone one know what's going on here, and is it normal in this model to keep pressing the button on and off . Sorry that was so long winded. Any suggestions would really help.

The pump runs until the system is pressurised. If the system is leaking, it can’t get up to pressure and the pump runs continuously. Once the leak is fixed just leave the pump switch on - that’s what we do on our Elddis

Just had another thought - make sure the drain tap is closed on the boiler. That might be the water you can see coming out under the van.

Hi,

It could be that the drain valve on your water heater has been left open, which will cause the pump to send water into the water heater and straight out of the drain valve. If you have a Whale water heater then there might be a yellow lever that you turn 90 degrees to close. Check the manual for the water heater to see what sort you have and where the drain valve is.

The water should work properly... That is only run when you open the tap.

Cheers

Robin

Our previous Elddis had an underslung whale heater. When the drain valve was open the water drained from a hole in the bottom of the plastic casing that contains the boiler. Yours sounds like a similar set up. As RWG said, there will be a yellow lever. Look at where the water is coming out under the van and then go inside and look directly above. You should see the yellow lever at floor level. It may be in a cupboard or under a seat. Flip the lever over and see if the leak stops. Don’t forget to drain the boiler down again if frost is expected. The whale valve is manual not automatic like the Truma boiler.

The yellow lever in my CV20 is under the oven, there is a drop down flap. Same thing happened to us first night out. We were parked up in the solar fitters car park and flooded it😱🤣 According to the fb CV owners pages it seems to be a common thing with new CV's

Sounds like the drain valve being open - or the frost protection valve (in the same area on our van) valve pops at a certain temperature to empty the water to protect the boiler from freezing.

Regarding th switch - it sounds like you have the same system as ours. The switch on the panel is the 'master switch' - we leave that on most of the time. Each tap contains a micro switch which triggers the pump when you use the tap. When the master switch is off there will be no power to the pump so tap will not work.

Welcome from us too. We have a CV40 having downsized from a coachbuilt. A few teething troubles but nothing out of the ordinary. I must say I am slowly getting used to it - there is so much more "technical stuff" than in our 2005 Adria :frowny:. Still, so glad we down sized and chose the CV40.
Have you subscribed to the forum? If not you will get your money back so quickly with all the good advice, given freely, even if they do take the micky out of woosh bangs:giggler:

No, sadly, age and health problems mean we just won't be able to use her to full advantage, its an expensive hobby if you have to keep cancelling and changing plans.. I am a member here until 23rd November. I love the forum, the quiz and Wordle, I shall miss it, even the jokes! 😥

Sounds like the frost dump valve on the boiler is open, but nothing will come out until you switch the pump on which then tries to prime and fill the system but it’s all pumping out thru the dump valve, check to see that it’s closed.
