:crying1: I had a lack of concentration on Friday and had to cut in too quickly to avoid a van coming the other way, and just scraped the front corner of a car with my nearside side skirt.
I was only going not much more than 5 mph at the time as its is a bottleneck with parked cars either side on a bend. The car is for sale and parked on the side of the road outside a small repair garage. Its an old small VW - X reg
I have agreed to pay for them to repair, which I think they have done.

Took the van to a local Caravan repair AWS guy on the way back to stroage, who thinks the panel is boned underneath the door frame and it will need a new door. I am not sure as I think it butts up to it, but I dont want to start poking about it just yet. Asked the main dealer where I store it to give me a quote as well.

The door is slightly dented but I will leave that as is, The last photo is the before shot

Anyone had one of these removed and does the skirt go under the door? Not having much luck with the van at the minute

I'd cut out the plastic that's folded in leaving the part next to the door frame and repair with fibreglass

I did something similar on my Giottiline, obviously not the same van but similar panels. The skirt goes around the underside of the door and can be replace without touching the door. I also damaged the skirt that goes around the wheel arch - same, can be replaced. The two panels are €600.

A decent body shop should be able to plastic weld those bit back together then paint it.
Your problem will be sealing along the top edge as that’s a bit of a weak spot for the solid construction style

I think the bit at the top has disappeared so there's a bit of a gap.

There is a metal rail which you cant see from the photo which the skirt sits on so I think they are sealed onto that.

It would be wise to get that skirt removed to check the sealing behind, many have been known to fail at that joint.
Just a precaution for you

It will be as I intend to get it repaired asap but waiting for a new side skirt may be the issue. I have covered in with tape to make it waterproof-ish in the meantime

Got the quote - £480 for the plastic part - and the total price is £820
This doe not include the dent in the door - I will live with that

Wow.
I did a similar size bit of plastic that went under the gas cupboard last year and it was 250 and 250 on a roller team
