On and off for many years.
The ferry is booked and paid for (Seatruck: Heysham to Dublin and return), and the outward leg is confirmed. The return journey will be confirmed in a month or so when the official booking window opens but it is reserved for us :) The first three nights campsite in NI is booked and paid for. We are planning a mix of sites and Britstops and discrete stayovers depending on weather of course.

EHIC cards checked and are still valid and in date.

Looks like it is really happening!!! We are going to see if we can find any information about Martin's Great-Grandfather who was from near Dungannon in Tyrone, we have a few leads to follow up already. The rest of the time will be cycling, kayaking and enjoying the wonderful land that is Ireland, both Eire and Ulster.

Seatruck is £80 each way and includes cabin, food and drink. I imagine it will be fairly basic but as it is only a few hours we can rough it. I hope that "rough" doesn't apply to the sea state. lol.

Have a great time. We're setting off tomorrow for three weeks in Ireland. We're going Stranraer - Larne because we're already in SW Scotland for the winter. I know right now probably isn't the best time of year, but we're going anyway!

No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes - and lack of alternative plans :)

We are in south east Scotland and there is very little difference in distance or time going to either Heysham or Cairnryan. We need to come back to Birmingham via Manchester (to play with Grandson) so the Heysham route suits us this time round.
