DucatoEriba 2.8 2003
Here I go again.
My Ducato eriba 2003 .I have discovered has a dodgy leisure battery.
Is it possible to get hot water through the Truma with EHU even though my leisure is not charging .?
Ordering a new leisure battery today .
Still learning the ropes here .
Thank you

The Truma needs 12v for the electronics, without a 12v supply it will not work on gas or mains electric.

Should say that when I use EHU and put the truma heater on it cuts out and evacuates the water from the cylider heater .

Thank you

Just seen this lenny .thanks .
I think I understand ?

Sounds like it's the older Truma with the electric frost protection valve, the valve needs 12v supply or it dumps the water.

Yes that’s it for sure .
I have a gel battery 104ah in it that was in when I bought the van .
Would a lesser ah battery (80ah) do for replacement or do you think I should stay with the higher 104ah.. water heating pump lights ..

The original fit would probably an 80 ah gel it tight off grid so most people fit a second 80ah.
2x 80ah would probably be best.

Isn't there a 12V supply from the battery charger, even if the battery is removed? I've never checked but it just seems logical.
So in my opinion it should provide hot water on EHU AND the frost valve should remain in the up position. The latter MAY require the gas heating to be used for a few minutes to get it above 8degC.

As above, on hook up there should be enough voltage for the water heater to work and hopefully run the pump

It depends if the Truma boiler has the 240v element , it was an option.
My 2001 Hymer has the option and it works well, had to fix it twice, which were cheap fixes.

Some do. Some Don't.

Many chargers need to sense a battery is connected before they will output a voltage.

Don't forget that the water pump needs 12 volts from the leisure battery.

The pump may need 12V but it doesn’t worry about where it comes from 🙄
