EFOY Opinions?

Ours is a tec29 generator and it is excellent but just not very sociable. On site would be EHU but we try to avoid sites as far as possible.

Thinking of having an EFOY installed - not cheap! Wondered if anyone who has one has any opinions on how good or otherwise they are. I see they have a whole new range but starting at over £2,600

Secondly - anyone know who supplies and installs them and can recommend an installer?

Thank
C
I have Efoy and wouldn’t be without it along with plenty of Solar and 3x120 Lithium’s.
As someone as said fitting it is a doddle you wire it +/- direct to your batteries and it takes care of itself kicking in when the batteries drop to 12.7 and stay on until they reach 13.2ish, therefore, say you used a bit too much power in the evening the Efoy might start running silently by the way and if your Solars add power with the morning Sun and your batteries are topped up the Efoy goes back to sleep.
You know all this but fitting is easy, l can do it😉

Did the photos in my phone added one too many.
You can see where the wiring goes over the Inverter to where the Batteries are located the large Ubend for Air so you cut a 5” hole and to the left is the exhaust pipe 5mm clear pipe not much bigger than a straw that again goes through the floor.

I didn’t want the big hole in the floor so put it in a well ventilated spot in the garage arguing that when it was running the weather would not be red hot so the extra heat would be a bonus, never an issue.

I have to admit that l have fitted it to other Concordes l have owned and fit a vent over the hole which looked has it should if indeed a vent was needed so looked fine and vented😊

Forgot to mention if you decide in the future to end your MH days it takes ten minutes to remove an Efoy and the residuals are high as they are like RHS , rare

We have had two EFOYs. Both very early on. At first the 2A job then exchanged for the 5A job. Both worked perfectly. We still have the 5A job which is stored under our stairs at home. Now with 150ah of lithium battery and a fast ish B2B system and 160 Watts of solar the Efoy was never used. The one time we were very glad it was there was in central France on our return to the ferry at a lunch stop. I could hear this faint purring sound and checked the Efoy control panel which reported charging at 5.4 amps. A multimeter test then showed that the vehicle alternator was not charging at all. A jury rig got Efoy charging the starter battery and got us home. But other than that it was never really used. I fitted a bulk gas tank and the Efoy and methanol can lived in the original gas locker.

We had one for many years in our caravans and transferred it to our motorhome when we made the leap.
Sold it when we converted to lithium battery which can be charged at up to 50 amps making the fuel cell's 5a charge somewhat pedestrian.
The fuel cell is remorseless though and keeps providing it's 5a (in our case - more powerful ones are available) until the battery is fully charged - providing there is sufficient fuel.

My one came with the MH, I wouldn’t buy one as so expensive. It is however good at keeping the batteries topped up in winter when you have no EHU.

Our motorhome lives on a storage site in a shaded spot without EHU. The Efoy has looked after the batteries through 2 lockdowns when we could not visit.

Or to read the posts in the thread which made it clear
You're missing my point. Why not make it clear in the original post what the subject is a about. Not all people understand all of the acronyms mean.

But why ask the question when it had already been answered?
Still missing my point. I read a few posts and didn't know what was being discussed so gave up. Obviously someone else didn't know either and asked the question which took until post 18 for clarity for the uninitiated about EFOY's.

From my point of view the point is different. You asked a question and I answered it by referring you to a previous post which gave the answer. It was an answer which enabled you to find out the answer to your question without any criticism of you. However, you seemed to think otherwise.

I can understand questioning if to get efoy if you have solar, but If you don’t, then efoy is more appealing as it will always give you the required power, what ever the conditions.

250W+ solar panels are very cheap. Most vans would take one or two minimum. More solar means better charging on dull days.

You launched yourself into this debate with the WTF acronym and now complain about the use of acronyms.

Efoy is not so much an acronym as the name of a range of products. Quite a few posts are introduced by a product or manufacturers name e.g Shureflo or Truma. The OP was clearly seeking opinions about a very specific matter and in my opinion the post was a good way of launching the subject.

I have a efoy comfort 210, which supplies 8 amps when the batteries tell it (on automatic)
when the batteries get the solar ampage, the efoy shuts down. (again automatic)

Its like haveing solar power at night,
whats not t like.

Not a criticism of you at all, just the amount of acronyms used on Fun that don't mean anything to some people and make it more difficult than it needs to be. You are quite right that you pointed me to the answer to my question and thanks for that.
