They're avin a larf 🤬 The fan unit could be unlucky but the ECU should not implode unless they have been ham fisted with the update

My update on the VW Sprinter was free along with the free once over when we registered locally with the VW commercial garage.
I think you have been done over on that cost.

If the garage was a main dealership and did the update then I would be extremely concerned about what they had done to the ecu. The fan is likely a different story.

I would be asking for a full explanation and that their work surely carries a warranty that would be more than a couple of days.

sorry folks iam in spain at moment but van was done in preston lancashire

If you want extra 'latest update' updates then it's fair that they charge you. However, if it is an update mandated by the fabricator it is always free of charge as they are updates to the necessary components of the system to prevent future failures (this happens more often than we are aware). If they have 'buggered' your system by not applying the update correctly (very possible) they are liable.

Out of curiosity as your in Spain and the ecu failed next day after update where were you when it failed.

Is it fixed now?

Will let you all know it's in getting done ? The story of this van is I had it for 6 years no problems at all 63000 on clock .
Sold it last week came on holiday and this is what has happened and I just feel something is amiss. Will let you know outcome

As part of main dealer service updates should be free, as for failing next day I would not be happy
