Ebl 208s, no display of starter battery voltage on Adria truma panel.

My schaudt ebl 208s has just been replaced by dealer (wasn’t charging leisure battery on ehu).
Just noticed that van starter battery voltage isn’t displayed on Adria control panel. Leisure battery voltage is displayed fine.
Van starts, and tracker app says voltage is 12.7v, and has been stable last few days, went up a bit when driven by the look of it.
The icon ‘flashes’ as well.
My guess is that the panel isn’t receiving a voltage reading from EBL, rather than any other fault? There are a bunch of wires that say ‘to panel’ at tip of EBL, presumably one of those is something to do with starter voltage
Has to go back to dealer soon for another attempt at bike rack completion, and MOT, so not unduly worried, but if anyone has any quick ideas they would be gratefully received.

You are right that the 10-way connector labelled 'to Panel' has a wire (Pin6) that sends the starter battery voltage from the EBL to the display panel. You could pull that connector out and re-seat it. But it's more likely to be a problem somewhere else.

There is a wire from the starter battery to the EBL that arrives on Connector7 on the front panel - the red wire in your photo. It goes directly to the starter battery, through a 20A fuse just next to the battery. It is used by the EBL to measure the starter battery voltage. (There will be a big 50A fuse next to it, for the other starter battery wire to the EBL, but that is not used for the starter voltage display.)

That wire with the 20A fuse is also used to supply the fridge 12V heater element while the engine is running, so if the fridge doesn't work on 12V while driving that 20A fuse may be the problem. Another thing that wire does is trickle-charge the starter battery while the EHU is connected, so you could look at the starter battery voltage while parked with EHU connected - if it's over 13.0V then it's being charged; if it's less then there is a problem.

So first see if you get the starter voltage at the wire going into Connector7. If not, check the 20A fuse near the starter battery. Then see if you are getting the starter battery voltage at the 'to Panel' connector , Pin6. If not, there's a fault inside the EBL. Then check you are getting the starter battery voltage at the display end of the wires, Pin6. If not, there's a fault in the 'to Panel' wires. If the voltage is reaching the display connector but the display doesn't show it, then there's a fault in the display unit.

I would add, if the EBL has been replaced, check everything it has been rewired correctly (check fuses also).

Thanks - sounds like good advice, appreciate the detail.
it was all working before the new EBL, so I’m assuming panel is ok, and it’s likely to be waiting somewhere.
I have a multimeter, I presume to check voltage at the points you describe , I put the red probe where the wire is, and the black one on -ve battery terminal?
 
I would check your fuses you have at least 2 that are wrong

Thanks - it came back from dealer like that! Not sure if the block came with those in, or dealer added, I spotted the 20/15 one, which other one isnt right?

Good shout to check fridge, doesn’t work on 12v with engine running.
Fuses seem fine, have tried replacements.
I’ve checked V at red ‘7’ but not reading anything, is there a way to check this with another so it isn’t my technique? I’ve checked lead ‘1’ and get a V reading from that, so think V checking is ok.
All seems ok at battery end.

The other end of the wire to '7' should be at the starter battery, with a 15A fuse (not a 20A as I said before). The fuse should be very near the starter battery, within 60 cm max. There may be a 50A blade fuse next to it, or it may be on its own, or next to a 2A fuse for the D+ signal. If you're not getting power to the fridge with the engine running, that wire to connector 7 is the problem, maybe they forgot to reconnect it.

I think your meter measuring is OK, you should also get the starter battery voltage at connectors 3 and 4, but they come through a different fuse, 50A.

Thanks - can’t see any other fuses near battery, unit now seems to have died completely, so I suspect something else has blown somewhere but too dark to check….
