Eating in or out? Shopping locally?

Swmbo cannot resist a local market, and guess who gets the treat of carrying it all back to the motorhome. Don't go anywhere in the uk though. Spanish fruit and veg is grrrreat.

I have to agree with your SWMBO. I love a local market, especially when we go to Spain. I also love the fish you can get in Spain. We found a fish shop in Spain last year, where they just had baskets of fresh fish. There were no labels and no English was spoken. My Spanglish seemed to work and I bought some lovely fish, which I cooked on the BBQ later.

I really like the Boulangerie and the Pattiseries in France.

Try too, but it‘s not always easy to in the uk.

I've emptied my van of food after I fed a family of mice last winter :giggle:

I will just take the basics when I travel as I enjoy eating and shopping in the area I'm staying in... which will be soon (y)

As if I have a choice! SWMBO insists we eat in local pubs and cafes, and loves to route march mooch around every available shop, visit museums and attractions, and sit in Ye Olde Tea Shoppe. Evening meal is often a takeaway. We like sites where the mobile fish 'n chip van comes or there is a visiting mobile Pizza oven so it is freshly baked while you wait.

At least your mice were happy

We havnt eaten out since lockdown and only had a couple of takeaways. We normally shop at Sainsbury’s once a week but having Lidle within site of our front door it’s made more sense to shop there during the lockdown.
There is more choice at Sainsbury’s and we can get low sugar and salt products but we seem to be managing. When we are away here and abroad we shop locally. Even when we were in Australia we used Aldi because it was near to were we were staying.
When we re stock the van with food we may go back to Sainsbury’s if only for smaller tins of beans etc.

Always buy locally, smaller the shop the more important to support it. Here in Scotland we have lost so many rural stores over the last 40 years we really try to use them.

Will be heading to Highlands End on the 6th July if all is well but they have asked us to stock up so it wil be my local bakery before I go (nothing unusual there) and the usual tea, milk and general supplies it will be different this first outing as usually I carry basics and shop as I go along (much the same as home) but will be heading out well stocked but as my Van is only little will be able to restock reasonably easily.
