We’ve just been out for the first 2 nights in our van, although it was a steep learning curve, overall it was very enjoyable. One of the problems was getting our two dogs in and out via the electric steps ( which they couldn’t cope with, too steep and risk of hurting themselves). The overall drop to the ground is 72cm does anybody have experience of a similar problem, my back won’t stand constant lifting of heavy dogs! Are plastic steps any better? I’ve looked on Amazon and the two step black ones look ok but would they still be too steep, perhaps if I attached carpet on the treads? Really could do with some help. Thanks.

We have a similar problem but not dogs, my wife has a dodgy hip and finds it too steep a climb to get in and out. Having the waste bin on the door is a problem too so will probably be taking it off. We were speaking to some people at the weekend in the New Forest about the same problem so we are going to get a 2 step caravan step.

We've never had the luxury of electric steps and have only used plastic ones. Presently using the cheap folding ones, is working well but quite small. But there's plenty of choice available.

We have the double plastic step, neither of us are lightweight and the bounce on the step, particularly when I went in / out made me decide

Biggest issue we get is the constant

‘Is your electric step broken?’ 🤔🙄

Our top step lines up perfectly with the door opening , it’s a bit bulky to store but mostly goes in garage to avoid cluttering inside, but for short trips I just put it inside the door

We opted for the slightly wider version having tried another funsters before buying ours , they told me both sizes were available and they wished they had bought the bigger one

That looks like a possible answer, we’re not getting any younger and neither are the dogs! Have you used one? Not cheap but worth it if any good. Thanks.
Yes have one for my 2 Jacks, unfortunately where my van floor is fairly high it is a bit to steep for them
If you have a low floor they would be ideal.

Ours are a bit heavier than Jacks ! I don’t suppose it’s strong enough for humans? I could make one I guess but its the storage that would be a problem.

We had the same problem with our Lab. We lower the electric step then put a single caravan step against it. Lab is happier getting on that as she has a longer run/platform to step into the van with.
