Easy entry solution when locked out of the m/h.

Your lad looks like he has a large corn on his left foot .
It's a plaster apparently. He'd earlier been running around on the grass and trodden on his soldering iron.
( No, don't ask. I didn't either).

Unbelievable that everyone is talking on open forum about keys hidden on their vans🤔

🤔Scraum about under a van for 2 hours looking for a key that may or may not exist.. and if it does will be well hidden... or break a window? If I was a thief I'd choose the latter.

For those who hide a second key on the vehicle be aware if your insurer finds out you'll be on third party terms only.

But they should not be advertising the fact that they hide a key😊

Ah ... but are they telling porkies just to look 'clever' for thinking ahead in case they need it ... but then again doing so would mean they were the opposite ......

I kept my “way finder” shoes from school and keep the spare key in the heel, just need to find out who bought them from the charity shop the wife gave them to now and then I’m sorted:giggle:

when my daughter was about 5, my Mil took all the grand kids to Bournemouth for the illuminations. Due back at about 10pm,we got a phone call nearer 11pm to go fetch the spare car keys from her bungalow and take them to her as she had locked the keys in the car. 30 minutes later I get there to 4 grumpy young kids who were cold and tired. 10 seconds assessing the situation, I lifted my daughter up and poped her into the car through the open sun roof.she unlocked the door before I even got the spare set of keys from my pocket

The kids loved me, but Mil was decidedly unimpressed

Whilst working at the roadside one of our call outs was to effect entry to vehicles.
On certain cars you could wind the windows down, just the back ones on newer cars. On one model the window would only go down part way. Whilst on a holiday camp carrying out an effect entry I got the window down and was about to crawl in the car when the owner stoped me. He produced a small boy and fed him through the window to get the keys. I assumed he was a relative of the car owner but he said no the kid was stood watching so I borrowed him.

About nine years ago I got a brand new car, first week I hooked the trailer on and went to the tip, reversed in to unload and left the engine running with keys in the ignition, large wagon nearby and he was creating a lot of dust, I reached in through the open drivers window and flipped up the switch to close the window then walked around the back to open the tailgate to get my gloves out, just as I reached for the handle the car decided to lock itself just as the front window closed.
So there I am with the car running and locked !
Ended up phoning a local taxi firm ( I knew the owners) they went to my house, picked up the spares and delivered them to me at the tip, the driver couldn’t stop laughing 😂

Sort of the point I was making #14
There must be few in the world (and not a single vehicle thief) who aren't aware that (some) people hide house or vehicle keys. I doubt that a career thief ever bothers with finding your keys.
I have no idea even who these Funsters or their vehicles are except maybe that their Profile indicates they are from from Planet Zog, 'Uddersfield, Kent, U.K. etc. (unless their photos show their number plates).
One might say the same about posts on social media that inform readers when and where they are on holiday, gurning with photos of their Olympic Grill at the Jolly Sportsman, Slough.

I think some on here would be surprised how easy it is to get into certain cars or vans.

That includes very high end cars.
Using non specialist tools 😳

Unless the transit based chausson motorhomes have been updated since 2017 if the vehicle is unlocked with the central locking and the passenger or drivers doors are not opened up and you enter via the habitation door the vehicle will re - lock itself after 30 seconds or so ! Just enough time to place your keys inside and leave the motorhome closing the habitation door behind yourself ,just as you hear a clunk and oh dear! You've left the keys inside great*********

I dont have the (dubious :Eeek: ) luxury of central locking, but do have a garage that is very easy to lock the keys in by mistake. So always carry the spare set on myself or Mrs Fusion on a neck band usually.

on my previous van, I hid a spare hab door key blade inside the van but accessible from outside, only if you knew where exactly. Take of the fridge vent and feel for the slight bump on the inner wall, where the key is taped to the wall. Even then, removing the key needs the knowledge of where the end of the duct tape is to peel it off

I started my working life in a main ford ,/ Austin dealers, back in the early 1960's , one of my job's storeman , then was if a customer was locked out I had to take about 300 keys on half a dozen rings and find the correct key to enter said car , then sell a new one , if I couldn,t get s key too fit , I was issued with a couple of lengths of bent welding rods to get in through the vent windows remember those !!/ Or slip the flat rod down the side he window to release locking button on the inside of the door
I could in those days get into 99 percent of cars
Perhaps I shouldn't own up to this

when I was young, I worked part time helping out a friend who was a scrap man, recovery agent and repossessed cars for the finance companies. I went along as extra muscle and learnt an awful lot about vehicle security, or lack thereof. One of my friends is also a master locksmith with a speciality in vehicle security and lockouts. He does a lot of work round the city of London and a great many of the lockouts are stupid people in suits with flashy cars. It has put his daughter through private education and University

Perhaps we should start a new thread for all those who (like me) at a young age were posted through an open house window to unlock the door.

Will those who didn't have a legitimate reason still add their names?

My mother locked herself out of her car at a northern working man’s club. She went back inside and shouted “Has anybody done time for breaking and entering cars?” 5 hands shot up. 😂. She was back in in no time.

my divorced mate came home drunk to find his daughter had left her mother and let herself into his place through a large cat flap. He didn't even have a cat, so next day got me to fit a solid panel in the door

Well here's what we do. on the chassis out of sight is mounted securely a combination key safe, inside that safe is a locker key in a plastic bag and soaked in WD40, that key can only open one locker on the van inside which is a vacuum sealed other key that would only be found by someone who placed it there! That Key opens the habitation door and you now have 15 seconds to find the hidden alarm/isolation switch for starting the van/turning off the alarm. Good luck in trying to steal the van! Other than winching on a flat bed! So its a bit like the Crystal Maze!

A reasonably solid screwdriver would get you into most MH's I suspect.
Trust me, you don't need ANY tools to get into a MH window ...

weve got a key hidden under the van took me an hour to find it when we locked our selves out and i knew what i was looking for
