....at least our Easter Break is.

We were planning to got to the Slowak side of the Tatra Mts from Th 6th to Wed 12th. Not very high area.

We checked the weather this morning and it is forecast snow and rain for the whole period, with day temperatures rising from 3C to 9C with N winds and night temps starting at -5C and rising to 0C. Cloud all the time.

The purpose was walking and the only other activity is to sit in the small hotel and drink excellent strong Czech beer till one keels over.

Cloud cover all the time, so being off-grid we would be unlikely to manage on solar panel and batteries.

In the circumstances the decision to cancel was not difficult.

We can however look forward to our Germany/France 6 week trip starting first days of May.

When I was learning to fly the instructor said that knowing when it was sensible to scrub was one of the most difficult but most important decisions!. I'm sure you have made the right choice it's supposed to be fun not an endurance test.

For us too due to mums health failing. However, she is now settling in nursing home so we’re going to sneak away up north for a few days - we can come back if needed but it gives us a break before going back to work

Sounds good to me.......Every cloud has a silver lining.:drinks:

We are getting older, (better than the alternative), so we are treating our family to a holiday.

We will be heading to Bristol tomorrow to have a one night stay before a (very) early flight to Madeira.

We will be travelling together with our daughter, a Deputy Head teacher, our Son-in-Law , a Head Teacher, our Grand-daughter, currently doing a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, and our Grand-son doing an apprenticeship in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on Electronic Control Systems.

We can’t help thinking that, in spite of our shortcomings, we must have done something right!

And the problem is ? I once worked in Prague….Pilsner Urquell unfiltered was my favourite ….you had to put your beer mat on top of the glass otherwise barman would come past and fill it up

We’re not going away but we’re not complaining as two of the little darlings are coming home. The third is home as we speak having brought the contents of his and his girlfriend‘s flat back from London on Monday. They’re having a career break and travelling in Asia for 3 months leaving monday. When he handed in his notice at St Mungos homeless charity after 5 years, he was burnt out, they begged him to look on it as a 6 month sabbatical in case he changes his mind! Very proud of him.

Following our post #10 re our family holiday in Madeira we have just been informed that immigration staff in Portugal and its territories are going on strike from tomorrow, our arrival day.

What a great start to what will probably be our last family holiday together, 😕

We used to work on Saturdays so Easter was pretty useless one day off back to work then another off. Some years we worked the Friday and took Monday and Tuesday off then the people who had other jobs would complain about us being shut. Luckily not our problem now

Love being at home over Easter! No traffic,no queues,no delays, plenty of chocolate piled up,an Easter egg hunt for the little people, and walks in the woods among the bluebells, primroses and cowslips. Each to their own so happy Easter to all!

No six months total driving ban and I fear loss of C1 permanently.

We went to Madeira in September last year for my 60th, fabulous country, walked some incredible levadas, enjoy x

It's a cold forecast for France. A bit risky I reckon are bank Holidays what with strikes and other awkward palaver

Going to Picos from 16th, not checked what the weather might be like. My understanding is there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.

Happy egg you lot🥚
