Agree with Bernie P I’ve never had any issues at all with the DVLA. All the straightforward stuff has been returned promptly and correctly over the years. Plus two complicated issues, an historic vehicle change and a 20 year old motorbike that had had its engine number wrongly recorded by the supplying dealer from new. Both sorted efficiently.
I bet having said that, next time it’ll all go wrong.

Do not recall ever having had problems when renewing licence or change of address etc. Always returned in a week or so.
The V5 for the new van came within a week.
That’s very reassuring about the V5 for the new van. We pick ours up on Thursday 1st August and Nick made the mistake of reading that it can take 4 weeks. Our 8 week tour leaves on the 27th August. I was sure it hadn’t taken that long last time.

If your dealer has online access. They should be able to give you a temporary certificate for use until the real one turns up. You can allegedly use it abroad!
Only snag is you need the actual V5 to apply for things like a Crit-air sticker.

They don’t have online access unfortunately. It was applied for 2 weeks ago so apparently should “go live” on the 1st. I realise about the Crit Air though which is a real pain. It’s an organised tour so it’s not as though we can delay our departure! I stupidly thought that as we had to pay for the van in advance this wouldn’t happen. My fault completely.

On and off for many years.
The medical board appears to be very hot and miss. What appears to be an identical diagnosis might be renewed almost immediately whilst another person's takes months.

Two people I know both have the same lung condition - the one who struggles had his licence returned renewed within the week and the other had to wait almost a year. Both are on the same drug and specialist regime.

Once you get hold of the V5 you can apply for a CritAir online and you get an emailed version to display until your sticker arrives.

When our van was first registered it took several weeks to get sorted. Having had a moan at the dealer it turned out that Peugeot have a weird and wonderful way of registering new vehicles. They were the hold up and once in the hands of the DVLA all sorted quickly. I hope you get it resolved🤞

Agreed that DVLA have pulled their socks up.

Sent off D2/D4 for C1 renewal at age 73, and back with me (all correct) after six working days. Is this a record? :clap2:

Bac to thread title

"DVLA - credit where credit is due."

Several people have reported elsewhere that when they have up-plated above 3.5t into PHGV category, which carries a lower VED rate, DVLA have refused the credit/refund even where due - opposite of thread title.

Had the medical on the 25th of May, chased the application last week and told it had progressed to the medical team.
Unfortunately they could not say how long they will take to process the application.
It was my birthday yesterday (70yr's on earth so far) The .gov website now showing that I do not have a driving license :(
I know I can still drive in the UK until sorted but we are booked on Le Shuttle the 1st of Feb 2025 :giggle:
