DVLA and V5 for new Van

Roughly how long are people having to wait for the V5 on a new Van to come through ? When I check online to see whether it is taxed, the site says the details of the van cannot be found. Tried calling them and was cut off after an hour.
The refund off the tax on the van we traded in was sorted within a few days.

There was a recent thread (try search) which basically said is depends on dealer if they are registered to apply electronically for the V5 or manually by post ... the later can take a few weeks ..

If there are mo details shown then it doesn't exist at the moment and cannot be driven

can anyone, who has had a dealer register a new van, help ,,its been about a week since they agreed to register it, with out the 10%, they asked for ,,i contacted them last week ,and there saying ,they sent the registration off ,and there just waiting on it coming back ,,how long should this...

For my new van it took 2 weeks for the registration to show on the DVLA website (about 1 month ago). The DVLA have a 3 week target. The V5C turned up a few days later. A few dealers have access to the RaV online service and can register on the day of handover. Before calling the DVLA it is best to know the date when the dealer submitted the application and have confirmation they received it. One or two dealers have been known to blame the DVLA for delays that they were partly responsible for but most are as keen to get their hands on your money as you are to get your hands on your new pride and joy.
