Dumping remotely, what’s the point?

What size bucket should I buy my wife?
And just when I thought you were being sensible...... I have missed you ?
Personally I would get her 2 buckets, it would be needed for balance.

Presently on Camping Salata at Santa Margarita on Southern outskirts of Roses pitches all upgraded over last winter to 10 amp ehu, fw each pitch and a grey water drain which is unfortunately a metre distant from the extended length of the Hymer supplied grey water drain pipe, so it’s an improvement=ied funnel made by cutting the base put of a 6 litre water bottle used as a funnel and the aforementioned bucket.

Tesco were selling the buckets for a fiver just before we left home early August ???
Did you get the same one? Confusing on Amazon as varying prices and names but all the same pics, seemed cheap enough, was mentioned I should buy my wife another to help her balance but if she empties it every day she should be fine, splashing out and getting her an umbrella as well ?

Just get her to swap arms each time otherwise she could end up looking like a Russian shotputter ?

My point exactly, I like progress but some things are best kept simple, apparently I can dump it remotely from anywhere in the world through the phone app and the van Wi-Fi. I hope I find a manual override have put that on my handover notes ?

Just like your TV.
When was the last time you saw a TV with a on/off switch or a channel change button ?
All done on remotes now .....

My wife is still on manual although sometimes I have issues turning her on, nob must be a bit rusty, maybe time for an upgrade to a newer model, thanks for the inspiration ?

IR remotes are simple and rarely go wrong, can`t say that for most things on a motorhome though :(

On purchase our Hymer DL was fully specced up so we have a remote dump with the camera option, it is a great system enabling me to position the van over the dump site or drain but crucially its shuts it off when engine is started so no snail trails from me when leaving a site. My preference is to drain the greywaste every day/ other day into a bucket and pour into the campsite drain or whatever is provided. The camera allows me to watch and shutoff the drain as the bucket is full.
It doesn't actually shut of when the engine is started.
You can't open it with the engine running but if you start the engine after opening it, it stays open.
Don't ask how I know or how I managed to poor waste water out of the van while on the Chunnel. ?

Disappointed in you, are you saying you haven't got a Henry vacuum hose that extends to 9m, even I have one of them.

Interesting Lenny have never tried leaving it open then starting engine, red light indicating open always goes out when engine started so assumed valve automatically shuts, one is always learning.

Light stays on on mine, I think.

My new van doesn’t seem to have a dump lever for grey waste, you have to use the phone app or touch screen command module inside to open the electronic valve, if inside you can’t see what going on or if you are over the hole, so have to get out to check then go in and activate it then go out and see if it’s done, there is a gauge on the command module but why the hell do designers have to make things complicated? a simple lever would do me! Oh it dumps the fresh water as well if you want!
Something else to go wrong..BUSBY.

I just stand there and close the tap when bucket is full..Simples,nothing to go wrong.BUSBY.??

I just can’t get excited about picking it up on Wed, will probably sell it before we use it in July/Aug next year and get something decent ordered, got my eye on the Carthago Model 53 L with Fiat Ducato AL-KO double axle with Iveco Daily 65C with permissible gross weight of 6.7 t ?
OMG .... nooooooooooooooooooooooo .... I don't think we could take yet another thread about a new MH which you're not happy with! ?

Just yet another reason for NOT buying a 'modern'/ new MH......I prefer to use a 'Camping Car' rather than an over-complicated 'Motor HOME'.....

Life in a MH - to me - has to be different than 'home'.....

With all the research etc you've done before committing to the purchase I'm surprised you didn't find out about this 'little gem' previously!

We haven't got an electronic remote gizmo for ours but the release lever is in the centre flipping underfloor locker which you can only access within the MH via the central floor hatch ... madness! The dealer did say, however, that a lot of people fit a release valve/lever to the end of the pipe externally and leave the internal one open all the time ... we do, though, have a little extension hose similar to the below:

Mine is in my driveway climate controlled with dehumidifier and heating, we have it plugged in all the time, maybe I need to put some of that pipe lagging on the pipe ?
I keep mine in a cotton wool lined air conditioned underground bunker..Much safer than on my drive.BUSBY:D:D:D.

I fitted one to ours very useful find a roadside drain press the button 2 minutes later gone very easy.
My remote doesn’t use a phone app.

I'm at a stage where I'm finding it very difficult to get down on my hands and knees to operate the valve which is underneath our Hymer exsis-i 562, and even more difficult to get up again. I intend to fit a remote valve as soon as I can find out where to get a suitable one ? Lenny HB .

I think they are a brilliant concept, but should only require a simple on off switch.

Has it got a failsafe on it to stop you hypothetically activating the drain release whilst driving above 10mph ?. Just wondering.......☺
On our Hymer we have a camera specific to waste pipe and a switch in the cab that won’t operate if driving?
