Sorry toilet thred.
What is the best way to clean the inside of the cassette?
Deep clean to get rid of all the crud (build up)
Don't mind getting hands inside
After all it's all ours.

Most of the 'crud' is limescale.

As above: Citric acid (concentrated lemon juice) and leave it for several hours.
Warm water is better than cold.

Then spray with silicone or if none available, olive oil.

I've also taken ours apart and used a Kercher spray on it.

When the motorhome is not being used, I tend to leave loo 'open', so that the cassette will totally dry out naturally between uses.

Just done ours after returning from France & Spain for the limescale.

(a) put a good glug of liquid or powder detergent in the cassette and fill to the brim with warm water. Turn cassette so it lies on all four sides over a 24hr period.

(b) remove seal and holder

(c) put hand inside and press the clips that hold the slider arm locking piece in position. Remove slider arm.

(d) This gives you much better access. The limescale will be softened and can be scraped off. I use one of those flat hard plastic spacers from double glazing (but any hard plastic will do) this will get the worst off. I then use one of those green scouring pads to do the curves and corners. I have a very hard bristle toothbrush that gets into the slider rail etc.

There are several videos on YouTube showing how to disassemble/reassemble the component parts.

OR

Spend £120+ on a refresh kit

Thanks for all info will have a go on our return from Spain/ france

Dishwasher cleaner does quite a good job - use two bottles and fill the cassette with hot water but keep it off the seals.

I wonder if calgon would work for thicker timescale?

We used biotabs in our cassette and never had much of a problem with timescale etc.

I do ours at least a couple of times a year, we are in a hard water area and limescale can be a problem.
Usually have to get j to open the cassette as i have a dodgy wrist and can't use enough pressure.

Ours never has got dirty in 10 years, I put a squirt of bleach in it when I empty it and it's always spotless. The inside is slightly faded because of it but the rubber seals are as new.

Please feel free to ignore me and buy your expensive chemicals though 👍😁

I use the bio tabs as well but still get limescale buildup. Last year used a limescale remover potion(can't recall which), filled the cassette for 24 hours. Clean as a whistle.

Citric acid… follow the dilution instruction except use a double dose… comes up like new!

Lube with silicon spray after…
Mix the citric acid with white wine vinegar it makes an ausome descaler.

Just for a fresh up when it's not too bad dishwasher tabs wokk well.

Definitely clean it, lots of suggestions already.

Vanish and hot water.

But then we only put our ultrasoft water into the flush, so no limescale.
