Welcome to the forum Harold.

The dual fuel car we had was an automatic changeover from petrol to LPG.
The car would start on petrol and then automatically change over to LPG when the engine was running, but we could manually select it to run on petrol alone if we require.

Older systems manual switch (like mine). Defaults to petrol if LPG doesn't flow (eg my fuse for tank solenoid blew).

Newer ones start petrol and then switch over to LPG if switch in correct position after a few minutes warming up. Cold days can affect the LPG atomiser (at least on mine).

As above I've had 3 duel fuel cars and they all started on petrol and switched to gas once engine temp reached a certain level. You could also override manually and could even start on LPG if you wanted.
