Ducato Diesel loses power

Hi all..I have a 2008 Ducato Diesel MH and it intermittently loses power (as if the Turbo stopped) any idea what the cause could be ?

I can't help with the answer but I have noticed a number of threads on this topic.

Try using the 'Search' facility in the top right hand corner of every page.

Do you get any warning lights when it happens?
As much info as possible will help others to help you out

If you inadvertently ride the brake at the same time as the throttle it can put the engine into a reduced power mode temporarily. A couple of restarts without doibg it will reset it.

Invest in an OBD reader, as cheap as £10. Free apps online.
At least it may give you some indication if there are fault codes.

No warning lights come on and it seems to clear quickly !

bonjour refroidisseur achete chez fiat 180euros au mois d avril aucun changement sur la piece je crois elle existe que chez fiat vous pouvez netoyer l ancien refroidisseur avec de la soude caustique bonne journée

You may need to register but I had this problem with 2019 Fiat ducato, had only done 14,000 miles and just out of warranty.

Won’t be this problem for OP as his is an earlier model with single dumb egr. The EGR could still be the fault, but it won’t throw those codes.

You were lucky to have any power in the first place , our 2018 Fiat Ducato 2.3 180 was a gutless pile of junk

If it's only at higher speeds it could be a sticking turbo wastegate, easily fixed by releasing/lubing it. If it only goes slowly, ie not above 30 it could be a loose turbo pipe or the pipe has a pinprick hole in it, both of which will mean loss of pressure

I had a similar issue last year, the slightest touch of throttle and brake, loss of power., apparently uts a 'design' feature..
