Hi just having tow bar fitted to my Ducato Malibu camper van then a swing out bar so as to fit a cycle rack on it.
Have you one on your van? I have just bought a swing out bar to fit on the tow bar and this seems very heavy to me.

If you have has it caused you any problems with all that weight on back? Tow bar/ Swing Out/2 sized CycleRack/ plus two very lightweight e bikes.

Would like your comments.

Many thanks

I have. 6.4 m Ducato with a Memo "van swing" and heavy Thule E-bike rack. I had the van weighed in (almost) running order with the rack loaded with 2 full sized E-bikes, which puts 60kg on the tow ball (this is the limit for a van swing).
The van was 3300kg and the rear axle 1800kg, so well within limits. I do not have semi air on the rear, but will do shortly.
I have travelled well over 12k miles in this configuration, with no issues at all, other than rubbish traction on the front wheels. The rear load doesn't help, but I think the Michelin CP tyres running at 72psi are the main culprit.
And before anybody tells me to lower the pressures, I have the Fiat TPMS, so I'm stuck with that unforgiving pressure until I change the tyres and find a way to get the pressure point changed...😜

Hi, good to see you have got sorted 😊. Hoping you will read this as it’s a brand new request for help from you.

I didn’t get the swing out bar because of its weight basically for my 3.5t van.

I have been trying to alert you to messages I have sent you directly from your earlier thread on this subject. Are you aware when people send you messages direct they appear on your top bar as an envelope with a number on, it I think, to indicate how many new messages. Also the bell next to it alerts you to when people have mentioned you directly in reply to your requests for help. It may save you having to keep revisiting your requests to see all the replies if you don’t routinely go back to them over a longer period of days to check replies. It’s a good system I think

Wishing you a happy new year and hope your trip at the end of the month goes well for you both. 😊

We have just ordered a knaus 600 with a Thule swing rack to be fitted at build. We saw them at the NEC and look well engineered.
