At over 70, sigh :( , is it OK to drive a Motorhome at exactly 3500kg or does it have to be under that? The way it reads is:

If you use the standard renewal procedure (Yes, I do) you will lose your C1 entitlement and you will no longer be able to drive motorhomes between 3,500kg and 7,500kg.

The word between makes it a bit ambiguous!! Thanks!! :)

3500 is ok over no, but you can have a medical circa £90 and get over

May as well apply to continue to drive motorhomes over 3500kgs in case you want to change vans in the future, otherwise you will be restricted as to what you can buy.

Not a great drama, medical as per@ex51sss once every 3 years.

I still keep my HGV up to date, even though I have retired.
Covers all the bases that I will ever need.
I might have a think about it when I reach 70 and just keep my up to 7.5t entitlement.

you can still pull a trailor up to 7.500 gvw if your motor will take it.

I used one of the firms who advertise on the Internet in February. £48 and 15 minutes which seems to be about right if no health issues beforehand. Comprised blood pressure & weight - eye test was done a couple of months earlier as part of my normal two-yearly checkup - and a lot of questions. That cost me a tenner but would have been included in the £48 had I needed it done at the time.

No you can't.
You can pull a trailer up to the maximum combined mass (aka the train weight) of your van .... Which for a 3500kg van will be around a 1500kg to 2000kg trailer.

could be more .i you lower the gvw of a vehicle it keeps its original train weight .
the rules seem silly ,you can lower some at 7.5 ton to 3,500kg then keep the train weight at 11ton . yet a b+e licence lets you use it all if the right age licence.

Oh yes you can:)......... as @vwalan says, theoretically possible if you held BE category before 19th January 2013 if your vehicle is capable.

There is a difference between what your licence will allow and the weight limits of the vehicle'

"
Category BE
You can drive a vehicle with a MAM of 3,500kg with a trailer.

The size of the trailer depends on the BE ‘valid from’ date shown on your licence. If the date is:

  • before 19 January 2013, you can tow any size trailer
  • on or after 19 January 2013, you can tow a trailer with a MAM of up to 3,500kg"
