Drivers door will not lock!

The drivers door on the van (see photo) will not lock from the outside. There is no damage to the lock so I sure no one has had a go at it.

Have tried 3in 1 and penetration oil with no luck.

How can I fix the problem Iam reasonable at DIY?

How long ago was it that you last locked it from the outside with the same key ?

the clip may be off the lock barrel inside the door

I bet he poked something into the lock and it broke off but would not like to admit it was his fault.
