Hi all. We’re getting a 2008 Adria Twin. Recommendations for an inflatable drive away awning would be very welcome, thanks.

We have a Vango Idris. It was 2nd hand and at the time suited our pocket. It does all we need it to, a kitchen extension, our van isn't big, but it does us OK. We've driven away a few times, no problems. Really is a good bit of kit, well made, easy to put up and take down.

We just wanted a small drive away awning that we could leave the table and chairs in. Something that we'd be less worried about in the wind than a wind out canopy with sides.

We first tried an Outdoor Revolution Cayman. It used poles in a cross pattern. It was very easy to put up and it was light weight and compact. The tunnel attachment to the van was a bit flappy in the wind. And the doors didn't have mesh over them and only storm flaps at the bottom. So it didn't keep the bugs out, let a bit of rain in. And most importantly, the cat could easily escape. I bought it second hand, used it a couple of times, leant what was important and sold it for what I paid for it.

We switched to a brand new Vango Kela 5. It's about the same size. But because it's airbeam, it's about 50% heavier and packed size is twice as big. Although part of that is the thicker, higher quality canvas. If anything, it's harder to erect than the Cayman, just because it's not freestanding until you've pegged out... which is a faff for driveaway awnings when you've got to get the distance to the van spot on. The Vango is noticeably higher quality with several nice design features. The tunnel is much easier to cinch-up without being flappy. Most importantly, it's cat proof. But if we didn't have that criteria, I'm not sure it'd be worth paying twice as much for.

For both, we managed to catch a couple of storms. They both stood up well (other than the Cayman letting rain blow under the door and puddle the middle of the groundsheet). But we did have to detach the flappy tunnel to get a good night's sleep.

We use a Dometic Rally Air Pro 260L which works well for us and only takes 20 minutes to erect. Have a look for a used on on Marketplace or Gumtree etc.

We abandoned awnings altogether for a Quest Screen House - just food for thought if you haven't seen them before.

Wished I'd seen one of these before agreeing to a vango blow up (extremely heavy) blow up driveway.

We have the Quest screen house which is what we use most but also have a Kela 2 tall for housing grandchildren when we take them away, it takes a bit of getting used to how best to put it up, we put a rail on the garage wall and practiced in the garden 🤣 We still never put it up the same way twice though, the Tunnel is great for cooking, electric not gas and storing wet clothes and when we took them, bikes.
Despite the name we have never driven away.
