Have had lots of bits of advice but really really need a simple route with aires with only essential tolls. Done this trip previously and have ended up stopping on unsafe service areas in desperation. We’re planning on an early morning ferry so to have a full days drive in France.
Don’t particularly like this long route but anything’s better than last years cancelled ferry to Spain disaster. Any help will be very much appreciated kind Funsters. Am I posting in the wrong place? Don’t literally need a tour guide - just advice - although a guide would be heaven to avoid arguments. Thankyou so much.

Was a Newbie but getting the hang of it now.
Sure someone has done it, was going to suggest ferry to Spain but take it you had problems last time.

Been using S4S over in Spain and Portugal to look for safe stops.
Best of luck

Get the camper contact app on your and you want to stop some where close to the end of your driving just search on the app for nearest to you and it will find an aire.

Park4Night app....read the current reviews...planning is just part of the fun of travelling....
We perhaps have had 200 or more overnighters on Spanish Aires over the past 12 months..cannot recall any that would cause us any issues..

Since May 05 (Ex Tuggers).
Done this trip previously and have ended up stopping on unsafe service areas in desperation.
We have done the long drive several times ourselves, but have never had to stop anywhere unsafe in desperation.

If you go into Resources, look for tonka's Western route. In winter, we tend to go down the Western route, and come back the Eastern route in the spring.
Oh look, here it is. ;) https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/resources/tonkas-western-route-to-spain.99/

HTH,
