Can anyone understand enough to work out
how much ?
Are they available over here ?
Or any other uk offerings.

I feel cheated - I thought it would be an extendable double step for an habitation door.

So I was wondering why the converter had not fitted it from new.

When we first bought our present van I could not find a manufacturer or supplier of side steps, so I made my own.
They make it so much easier to get in and out of the cab doors.

Have a look at Land Rover/Discovery door steps lots of high 4-wheel drives have them.

I 've looked at Vanpimps fox runners but they dont do a short version only full length for swb and mwb vans.
Two on Tour how did you fix your brackets. Vanpimps use the jacking points, where do you then jack van up?

We had these fitted:

Easy to fit yourself but our van was in for service and MOT and timing belt change so we asked the garage to do it :). They did with no charge!

I bolted brackets to the chassis rail by inserting rivnut into the chassis rail and bolted length of 1/4" x 1/4" x 1" aluminum angle to the lower vertical section of the sill. The jacking point is clear, although in the photo it looks obstructed.

Two on Tour the words made sense of the picture previously posted (i searched your old posts). Thanks again.
The only problem i can see is the depth of the fairing bellow the door, requiring a short platform.

You could shape the rear end of the step to follow the line of the molding or have longer brackets to mount the step lower.

Yes i need to bite the bullet buy the rails then have a play, the weathers perfect for grovelling under the van (Drizzle).
I was going to wait for MWB version as it would give me enough extrusion for 2 attemps, but, now got a sort of plan.
Passenger side first as i am going to fit semi air when ebay seller puts up version with twin lines.

I'd seal that ply with epoxy resin. In that location it'll delaminate before your very eyes.

The photos were taken during the construction of the side steps and the edges were sealed and are still fine some 4 odd years on. (y)

I liked the look of this so I emailed to ask about price and availability, they replied this,

Hi,

This product is actually not in stock and our manufacturer is not able to give a date for the moment.

We can ship to the UK, but since Brexit, there are some extra costs and taxes due to the customs clearance. (We don't know how much they charge...)

Cordialement,

Two on Tour due to your inspiration and the rediculous price of the ebay item i took a punt on the vanpimps fox runners. The black plastic trims come off easily, not glued on as i feared. One side of the swb version is enough to make both sides. I used the vanpimps brackets and a few bits and pieces to level up due to the depth of the fairing. At the rear i used the supplied bracket and a modified MZ exhaust bracket to mount to an existing point on the van. The bracket perfectly reaches a frame member. A quick drill and rivnut and it looks as if it was intended to be there.the rear plastic bit needs a slight modificstion to avoid the exhaust..

Ps needs a clean.
Most important bit SWMBO is happy.

Nice job. (y)

We find it easier to come out of the cab backwards with our sides steps, as coming out forwards with the narrowness of the step seems to launch you headlong.

Thanks for advice, just had a little play getting in and out and so far happy. Have opportunity to extend out a little bit so may have a play tomorrow.
