Anyone had any experience of the entrance door glass cracking across its width? Bessacarr 454 2016. Any ideas on repairers? Looked around for replacement but no joy. I’ve covered it to prevent water ingress with a transfer stripe. Don’t want to replace the whole door for a crack on the glass. Anyone got any ideas?

It is Acrylic so you should be able to repair it with an epoxy, with the surface vertical it will be difficult to get the glue to flow into the crack. Probably worth taking the door off so you can lay it flat.
In the meantime drill a small hole at each end of the crack to stop it from spreading.

It’s already gone full width I’m afraid. Think it’s repairable?

Fill with epoxy and then have the design in it made in a decal, apply over the repair and edge lip.

you could try the above, seems good for sealing.

Took out the habitation window and fitted a new one . The Other was cracked by the previous owner! Any way........On line and at most parts shops for the window...came in at £450 Plus postage! Phoned Auto trail Grimsby...they sent me one down next day delivery (Fed EX) 235 inclusive of tax and...
Comes with the pictures in the post. I bought direct from Auto trail at £235 inclusive of Vat and delivery. Its relatively easy to do but you will need the right mastic to glue it in place again. Tape around the window and use a very sharp long bladed knife to crack the original sealant. Then from inside ...Remove the blind and door inner panel trim. Makes it a little bit easier to crack or cut through the original mastic internally. Remove the glass and clean up the old mastic and refit in the reverse order.

Don’t they use the same manufacturers for glazing parts?

A few hundred pounds for a new window + fitting or maybe a tenth of that for a repair with epoxy and a decal matching existing van sides? I know what way I'd be going.

Do you have the part number for the glass?
I have the same problem but having no luck with suppliers.

I've just read that these people managed to get a replacement window that no one else could so maybe worth a try,

It works. The worktop on the Le Voyageur developed a crack and after cleaning thoroughly, I applies this a couple of times and now you have to know where it is to actually see it

Does your insurance cover "glass"? May be worth a call.
Habitation door........Only if an unlawful entry or breakage due to accidental issues. Then you have to have it on your policy for accidental breakage...Apparently? Policy governs of course...

Thanks all for your help.(y)

Dont really want to go down the insurance root.

Just tried Autotrail they no longer supply to the public, needs to go through a dealer. So by the time they've slapped there handing fees its going to be £££££££!

Caravan crazy have a similar shaped panel at £500 which would need trimming to match the original shape of my door. Feel this is very over priced! But may have to go this route.

Quote for a whole new door was near 3k

Seems crazy for such a small acrylic panel so looks like the sticky tape will have to do for now.
Thanks,
Jason.

I'd try the Captain Tolley's if it is acrylic.

You could also use a stained glass effect transfer internally (lots of ebay) to hide any issues.

Lenny - any particular epoxy to use on a crack - as ours went on the way home from Spain.

You can get Epoxy for plastic and there are some for acrylic.

I just Googled "glues for acrylic" came up with a lot of interesting info.
