Dear Funsters,

I am in need of your guidance.

We have a Dometic Series 10 Fridge Freezer in our HYMER which is working fine so long as we manually select the power source.

For some unknown reason the option of ‘Auto’ select has disappeared from our control panel and I wondered if anyone knows how we can get it back?

I attach an image so you can see what I mean…

Thanks Robert,

I have switched it on & off but not done a full power down as I’m not sure how!

Normally on Hymers there is a 2 amp fuse that powers the fridge electronics in a bank of about 4 fuses near the Electroblock.

Thanks Lenny,

I’m not an expert on these things by any stretch. Are the fuses shown on the attached image?

It sounds as though you are suggesting that the AES option has been there but is no longer, I notice on your EBL you have no fuse in the slot marked AES 20A but if it used to work that can not be anything to do with it.

No that fuse is nothing to do with it. If you pull that fuse it won't run off the hab batteries everything else will work as normal.

So if it’s in does it run off starter battery in AES mode? We don’t have EBL.

If that fuse is inserted, the fridge can run from the leisure battery 12V when the engine is not running. That's in addition to the normal way where the fridge runs from alternator/starter 12V only when the engine is running. You have to be careful, the fridge can flatten the average leisure battery overnight if you forget it's running on 12V. That's why it's something you have to actively opt for, when you insert that fuse.

The alternator/starter 12V supply for the fridge element is entirely separate from the low-current fridge control board 12V that comes from the leisure battery via the EBL. The low-current supply often comes from one of the 'Kreis' fuses (= circuit). However since both these supplies appear to be working fine, it looks to me like a problem with the fridge control board.

Only if you select 12v manually on the fridge.
On older Hymers on AES it would run off the hab battery if no mains or gas it did that on our 2008 Hymer.
