Hi to all,

as a newbie I'm hopeful your collective knowledge might sort me out!

My (09) Adria has 2 Dometic Seitz roof lights, both with a manual winding (lift/lower) mechanism which seems to work ok on the lift bit but when I lower the rooflight the little (plastic) locking hooks, which secure it in the down position, fail to engage. I have found the winding mechanism as a spare but wanted to know if this is going to solve the problem before I buy it. Anybody know?

Many thanks in advance for any help and guidance!

I’m afraid it’s not a simple question to answer. The clip system is complicated and things need to lineup in order for the operation of the locking tabs.

Do you get any noise during operation?

Once the light is lowered there is a clicking noise from the mechanism, but no movement from the clips. The other rooflight (which works ok) lowers ok and then the clips move into place to lock the rooflight. Thx for your response.

It does sound that possibly the winding track/rod is skipping teeth. Does the part you are looking at buying contain all those parts too?
Parts for these are hard to get hold of these days. I have a complete assembly in my loft as I replaced one of mine completely. Also 09 Adria, mines a Coral

The part that I found was thru leisurespares:

Which is (I think) the winding mechanism. I have a Coral 690SP, as in my profile pic, with overact bed and rear bed. Very comfortable but as it ages issues like this sure to arise. If you want to clear a space in your loft, I will happily buy the winding mechanism and see if that sorts out the issue. Attached file is the sticker from the rooflight

I ordered bits for mine through them. Took 9 months to get them and then were wrong. Agree with you 100% about the age and sourcing parts.
